Ricci is convincingly terrified in a film that's never scary enough to justify her performance.

Thanks to Ricci's excellent performance as Lauren and Cusack's balanced supporting role, Disjointed will certainly find favour with fans of classic Canadian cult offerings.

[Christina] Ricci is impressive, however, working hard with what she's got to create a character we can believe in even when what's happening to and around her stretches credulity.

Distorted leaves viewers with a disjointed, unoriginal story, a made-for-TV feel, and underwhelming thrills, with the only saving graces being the presence of Ricci and Cusack.

A frustratingly terrible paranoia thriller, Distorted manages to waste a potentially intriguing premise and the star power of Christina Ricci and John Cusack.

One of the worst movies I've ever seen. The audience score is baffling.

This wasn't scary but it was kind of enjoyably creepy about a couple that moves into a secure, Stepford-Wives-ish building with CCTV. However, itï¿ 1/2(TM)s pretty slow as Christina Ricci's character wandered about, noticing weirdness here and there and during some investigating of her own as to what's REALLY happening in the building. I feel like it had a lot of potential, but it just didn't quite grab me. The ending felt a little silly but it did have some action to get me to perk up my seat a bit.

After reading the professional critics reviews, as well as the audience reviews, it seems to me that quite a number of the professional as well as the amateur critics seem to want to put Distorted in the category of a horror film, instead of watching and reviewing it as it was meant to be as a psychological-thriller. In that regard, ok maybe it wasn't the best P/T, but it wasn't the worst either. It had some twist and turns, the acting was a little tight at times, but overall I gave it a 3 stars.
