After being released from a Georgia prison, smooth-talking con man Gabriel Caine (James Woods) teams up with his partner in crime, Fitz (Oliver Platt), and travels to remote Diggstown. Upon arriving, Fitz and Caine bet the wealthiest resident, former boxing manager John Gillon (Bruce Dern), that they know a guy who can beat Diggstown's 10 best fighters in one day. After Caine reels in "Honey" Roy Palmer (Louis Gossett Jr.), an aging boxer and old acquaintance, the grift is on.

Steven McKay has written an intelligently twisted and surprisingly witty screenplay. Go to Full Review

Give credit where credit is due: Ritchie and screenwriter Steven McKay know how to turn their crowd-pleasing tricks. It's one sucker punch after another, but you'd have to be a rock not to fall for it. Go to Full Review

Anakin L Nov 23, 2018 Like many great movies, Diggstown gets better and better the more you watch it as you pick up many of the subtle nuances to the story and dialogue. All acting performances are top notch and the directorship simply outstanding. It's a super fun storyline with an ending that blows you away so unexpectedly that you can't help but literally laugh out loud! No doubt one of my all-time favorites and without question one of the greatest little-known movies ever. So much so that I always keep a copy of the dvd in my truck in case a spontaneous viewing is needed. Lol! See more
