What to Know

Critics Consensus

Naomi Watts tries hard in the title role, but Diana buries her efforts under a shoddy script and clumsy direction.

Too much of this movie feels made specifically for the movie, which goes directly against its alleged realism, and leaves the audience confused about the point of it all. Go to Full Review

Yes, Diana is the poor little rich girl, but the opulent settings, private jets, yachts, and chauffeured cars prove peculiar and distracting affectations. Go to Full Review

Diana turns out to be an enormously tedious character study which never once has the balls to go beyond its glossed-up TV movie roots. Go to Full Review

Poe S Oct 1, 2017 This film is a bit dull, but I did learn a thing or two about the last two years of Princess Diana's life. I must be the only person in the country that didn't know she had an affair with a Pakistani heart surgeon. Apart from this the film doesn't really open up and explore who she really was. See more
Luke R May 26, 2017 I, like many was genuinely shaken by the untimely death of Princess Diana in 1997. This is the sole reason I wanted to watch this movie. Sadly what should have been a promising psychological study of her last few months became a paltry experience which told me little about Diana or the circumstances surrounding her death (The Queen is a more enlightening film in that respect). This had the enlightenment and profundity of a Woman's Day magazine, which, judging by the look of it, should have been it's distribution format. See more
Luke R Mar 16, 2017 I am really struggling through this movie. The script is corny, shallow and cheap - the acting in my opinion is overrated. Naomi Watts is a great actress and at times she is almost exactly Diana... but the entire rest of the time she is a mix between an awkward caricature and someone impersonating Marilyn Monroe. Don't waste your time - this movie will not tell or show you anything about Diana, nor will you feel like you are even watching her. See more

Harry S Jan 19, 2017 The movie isn't really bad but it portrays the Princess not very gracefully. I guess this is why it receives quite negative feedback. See more
