A team composed of an aerospace scientist (Warner Anderson), an ex-Air Force general (Tom Powers) and an industrialist (John Archer) conceive an ambitious plan to land Americans on the moon. From their base in the Mojave Desert, they construct and successfully launch a spacecraft named "Luna" that contains a cargo of four astronauts. But a critical miscalculation of needed power to escape the moon's gravitational pull may put the astronauts' lives in danger.

Destination Moon is good hocus-pocus stuff about interplanetary travel. Go to Full Review

DESTINATION MOON (1950), the film that probably should have led off the Fifties science fiction cycle, actually is still an enjoyable adventure film even if parts are a little dated. Go to Full Review

Taken as sort of a pre-pre-pre-historic Apollo 13, I suspect the die-hard sci-fi fans might enjoy this one. Go to Full Review

Mar 2, 2019 Really good for a 1950s movie about landing on the moon, kind of corny now but a good movie back in the 50s
Jan 31, 2019 The best sci-fi movie ever made! The winner of the Best Visual Effects Academy Award!
Luke L Oct 14, 2018 Ultra realistic compared to the typical 50's sci-fi (except for the comic relief). Once can only imagine what the average movie goer in 1950 learned about space flight from this movie. Ingenuous solution for rescuing the stranded space walker and also the way they solved the weight problem for the trip home at the end. A must-watch movie for an sci-fi or space history fan. And it's in color!! See more
Leia L Sep 28, 2018 Pleasant 50's sci-fi movie.
Ron W Jul 3, 2017 Imagine, someday we might land on the moon for real! this movie was okay but nothing to shout about. I liked how one of the 4 astronauts had a very limited knowledge of space and physics, and didn't even believe that the ship would take off, and didn't even want to go anyway. he really was a terrible astronaut See more
