With innocent victims caught in the crossfire in Los Angeles' intensifying war on crime, both cop John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone) and violent thug Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) are sentenced to a state of frozen incarceration known as "CryoPrison." When Spartan is finally thawed 36 years later, it's 2032, and Los Angeles is now a pacifist utopia called San Angeles. But with Phoenix again on the loose, Spartan must team up with future cop Lenina (Sandra Bullock) to apprehend the killer.

Demolition Man is a movie that should have been fun, and isn't. Go to Full Review

Ultimately the script's often sharp social satire is drowned out by the noise and confusion. It is also undercut by casting virtually all the psychopathically murderous criminals as minority-group members. Go to Full Review

Nearly all the SF premises are accorded the status of Andrew Dice Clay one-liners -- which means that they, along with the characters, keep changing from one scene to the next. Go to Full Review

Maybe Demolition Man doesn’t offer the pure action hit of The Terminator, but it’s one of the few big-budget, numbskull action-flicks that actually offer some kind of wry, intelligent critique of societal change... Go to Full Review

Demolition Man is one of those odd movies that is so much, it’s too much but also exactly right at the same time. The film has a fun story, the “futuristic” setting is no longer set in a distant time, but it’s still fun... Go to Full Review

Demolition Man has been charming & entertaining fans for over 30 years with its exciting action, silly sense of humor, and over-the-top performances, all of which make it easy to see why the film has endured for so long. Go to Full Review

Christina V @christinavosilla Aug 19, 2026 So so movie, not my fave.
Leia R Mar 6, 2019 My dad recommend this movie to many, and I'm glad I watched it. Its an amazing and fun movie to watch.
Oct 12, 2018 Such a disappointment. Always enjoy Snipes in an action movie but it seems as though Stallon is allergic to great scripts. Then there's the issue with them dubbing over the Taco Bell product placement with a Pizza Hut replacement. Mandela Effect attempt failed! See more
Draco P Oct 8, 2018 Yes, I was a teenager too.
Draco R Aug 7, 2018 Surprisingly fun, undeniably stupid, and remarkably conservative: A styling black criminal is a danger to the tranquil and polished peace of white Hollywood, and "it takes a maniac to take down a maniac"-it takes a good guy with a gun to stop a bad guy with a gun, so that excessive police violence is not only justified, but in effect the only thing stopping society from slipping into fascism (because only fascism can stop fascism, according to this backwards logic). But honestly, the movie is too ridiculous and too lowbrow for its conservative, fascist bent to have much punch. See more
Ron S Jun 24, 2018 If you don't like this movie but still watched it, the only question is: what did you expect from Stallone and Snipes? It's not Shakespeare or Woody Allen. It's an action comedy. Did it deliver on its concept, YES. See more
