Stagefright proceeds as a rather earthbound taster of winky genre self-reflexivity. Go to Full Review

Grand Guignol spectacle...filtered through the kind of ‘80s excess as could only be imagined by a disciple of Dario Argento. Go to Full Review

A remarkable directorial debut for Soavi, who displays a keen visual eye amidst all the slashing. Go to Full Review

Michele Soavi's feature debut is a solid slasher and an iconic villain costume. While the Final Girl is unfortunately a bit bland, the kills, the direction and the subtle interrogation of class help Stagefright stand apart from its late 80s contemporaries Go to Full Review

Anakin L Jul 16, 2017 A fun slasher with a great 80s feel and some quite graphic gore. It's a bit dull in the first half (though not for lack of things happening), but really picks up by the end. Not incredibly original, questionable acting, and as usual in slashers the characters sometimes act with amazing stupidity, but a pretty nice set and a memorably creepy owl mask. I liked the ending, as well. See more
Hermione S May 16, 2017 Above average slasher film. It lacks a bit in pacing (first half hour can pretty much be skipped) and acting ability, but more than makes up for it in atmosphere and set/costume design. See more
Draco S Mar 13, 2017 A gloriously artful and technically superb slasher. It reaches a balance between camp, style, and genuine suspense with a villain that's equal parts enigmatic and terrifying. It's a must-watch for slasher fans. See more
Theodore R Jun 24, 2008 At times, Stagefright transcends both its low-budget economics and its well-worn genre requirements and achieves something sublime that can only be described as "Hitchcockian." See more
