What to Know

Critics Consensus

Tony Scott tries to combine action, science fiction, romance, and explosions into one movie, but the time travel conceit might be too preposterous and the action falls apart under scrutiny.

It's a hard movie to hate, just one that's far too easy to forget. Go to Full Review
David Jenkins Time Out Dec 30, 2006
Take away a couple of neatly staged action sequences and you're left with a callously measured slab of US jingoism that deals with the most horrific human tragedies in the most lunk-headed and insulting way possible. Go to Full Review

It's Denzel himself, ambling through the nonsense with just the right degree of twinkling insouciance, who keeps you watching. Good fun. Go to Full Review

If one can get past the dubious technical details of the setup, the competent acting should take care of the rest of the entertainment. Go to Full Review

Sounds a bit dodgy, huh? Not when an in-form Denzel Washington is involved. He's the glue that keeps this absurdly compelling thriller together as it mashes up the present and the past to intoxicating effect. Go to Full Review

Luke P Mar 18, 2019 A really enjoyable thriller. Washington is charming and whilst the story is far fetched, its exciting and fun.
Ron L Apr 3, 2018 nice... but not very much
Hagrid L Feb 3, 2018 This movie had a lot of potential but just got too ridiculous.
Draco M Feb 1, 2018 Exciting, but the story loses focus and the only real interest lied in the last 30 minutes. Not bad, but not great.
Abraham P Dec 29, 2017 Grade: B- The first half is intriguing with the second half that just gives a random science fiction element that I felt too out of place of the tone of the film. See more
Dec 5, 2017 Stupid and pointless movie
