It’s remarkable how Simien keeps his film moving at such a breakneck pace, each line a reference to or a commentary on pressing sociological concerns that are rarely spoken about this openly. Go to Full Review

Despite the chances not taken in terms of storytelling and filmmaking, there are also plenty of reasons to be excited about Dear White People. Simien took what started out as a crowd-funded film and turned it into a pop culture phenomenon. Go to Full Review

...the film explores how two members of the same race can have vastly different experiences depending on how dark their skin is, as well as why certain people can say and act one way, but not others. Go to Full Review

Dear White People is sharp, entertaining and probably the coolest film of LFF 2014. Go to Full Review

Dear White People deploys a full arsenal of intellectual weaponry to talk about race and much more in a way most can't or won't. It is hilarious. It is brilliant. It is vital. And it's Simien's first outing. More please. Go to Full Review

Harry W Mar 8, 2019 Dear Black people, despite what your box art says, we white's do NOT want to touch your hair, let alone be around you. There is around 200 million whites in the united States, and finding rare cases as your example contradicts what your own people tell us that we should condemn all people for the actions of a few. The show itself builds up on lies and mistruths. The majortiy of whites do not put on black face because we don't want to be you, at any time, now or in the past. Some people have tried to tell me that the film shows things that black people do too, and I can say without a doubt that I do not give reviews without watching. So I am in the process of watching the film just to give an honest review. I will be typing as I go. So I got 5 minutes into the film and was already bored. Half truths, to downright lies. Blacks can have 0 white friends at all by choice, and get their own schools, scholarships, even black congress, but we are racist if we only have 1 black friend? I would pass on the film, it's just another hit piece designed to smear whites and bring more hatred to whites everywhere. See more
