Ten years after simian flu wiped out much of the world's Homo sapiens, genetically enhanced chimpanzee Caesar and his ever-growing band of followers has established a thriving colony just outside San Francisco in Muir Woods. Meanwhile, a small band of human survivors emerges, which forces Caesar -- as leader -- to grapple with the dual challenge of protecting his people and re-establishing a relationship with the remaining human population -- the latter being Caesar's secret wish.

The fact that “Dawn of The Planet of The Apes” is a summer tent-pole with a brain and a conscience shouldn’t be this refreshing... Go to Full Review

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is still the best big budget summer movie of 2014. Go to Full Review

Dawn is not interested in staging conflict for the sake of it, and the misunderstandings and tensions that drive the plot don't always feel like contrivances. Go to Full Review

A+
It's that impossibly rare blockbuster that shimmers with intelligence and has the FX razzle-dazzle to leave you dazed and amused, grinning from ear-to-ear and stunned by its impeccably told story. Go to Full Review

While Dawn of the Planet of the Apes can certainly stand on it's own two legs, the character building and set-up from Rise, makes Dawn a little bit more potent. Go to Full Review

Harry S Apr 6, 2019 I found the story a little iritating at key points. In real life, you'd never take a jumpy, skittish guy (who has already shot an ape) and is forever pointing guns in the wrong direction, anywhere near the apes. Also, the 'Security' detail not knowing the apes were intelligent ("Shall we shoot him?") at the dam site, stretched believablity to breaking point for me. I know these scenarios drive the story, but seriously, pussy boy - I mentioned forst - wouldn't be allowed a toy gun, let alone a real one. Effects-wise, a job well done, but I just got pissed at the silliness of the above mentioned. See more
Abraham R Apr 2, 2019 This film is brilliant from start to finish. One of my all time favourites.
Finn R Mar 3, 2019 Even better than Rise, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes adds a heavy dose of action and drama, built on interesting questions with no easy answers. See more
Finn G Feb 18, 2019 Was the best film of the year and even now should be regarded as one of the best sci-fi film series of all time
Theodore G Feb 12, 2019 With more complex characters, improved special effects, and terrific acting from both digital and live characters, Dawn lives up to the standards set by the classic original. See more
Hermione S Jan 13, 2019 I found this to be really boring and I couldn't get into it at all. The human characters were unengaging and the apes were one dimensional. Terrible movie. See more
