Attorney Matt Murdock (Ben Affleck) is blind, but his other four senses function with superhuman sharpness. By day, Murdock represents the downtrodden. At night, he is Daredevil, a masked vigilante, a relentless avenger of justice. When Wilson Fisk (Colin Farrell) hires Bullseye (Michael Clarke Duncan) to kill Daredevil, Murdock must rely on his own senses and search out the conspirators against justice -- which may include his own girlfriend, Elektra (Jennifer Garner).

What to Know

Critics Consensus

While Ben Affleck fits the role and the story is sporadically interesting, Daredevil is ultimately a dull, brooding origin story that fails to bring anything new to the genre.

Daredevil has a brooding dark and dank air about it, much like Batman. That's about the only element that lends the movie any character. Go to Full Review
Alexander Walker London Evening Standard Dec 14, 2017
From start to finish, the film is death-ridden and employs overamplified sound to pump up its many pornographic images. Go to Full Review

It isn't a great film, or even a greatly original one. Still, it has many grace notes, and interesting oddities. Go to Full Review

Worst of all is the finale, which features a protracted duel with villain Bullseye, utilizing copious amounts of bad CG that cheapens the choreography and any potential for a satisfying demise. Go to Full Review

... a strange, sometimes maddening movie. It’s shot with a hyperactive camera that jitters like the Flash on a dozen cups of espresso and written as if the actors were speaking the archly pulp dialogue balloons of a real comic book ... Go to Full Review

Albus R Apr 23, 2019 Good action and a nice adaption of the MARVEL character.
Theodore W Mar 11, 2019 One of the worst movies of all time. Completely unwatchable. It looks like it was shot using a Game Boy. The acting is horrible. See more
Theodore S Mar 1, 2019 So bad it's funny
Albus P Feb 24, 2019 How do we make daredevil better not make him blind!!!
Draco L Feb 7, 2019 Having only seen the R-rated director's cut I still agree with most that Daredevil suffers heavily from a dated style, a story never given the time to explore the dark themes it brings up, and (aside from Michael Clark Duncan's excellent role as The Kingpin) the acting is not strong enough to rise above the material. Han L Feb 6, 2019 Not horrible but pretty cliche and dull and dim. Bad CGI. Pretentious. The characters weren't likeable (except Bullseye, what a delight to watch Colin Farrell steal the show). Meh. See more
