Danger Close provides a vivid portrait of combat and its emotional and physical aftermath. Go to Full Review

Ultimately, neither narrative receives sufficient attention, robbing the subjects and that unique p.o.v. of the focus and urgency that lent the previous two films their undeniable potency. Go to Full Review

By focusing on Quade's absolute respect for military service and authority, Salzberg and Tureaud miss an opportunity to explore her pragmatic conservatism, lyrically expressed in her profiles of unquestioning heroism. Go to Full Review

Danger Close fetes veterans less than it does Quade, who gets to talk herself up, often in an unseemly manner, coming across as braggadocios about her own bravery even as she pays lip service to the solemnity of her job. Go to Full Review

Alex Quade is a great combat reporter, no question. How great a documentary producer she is is a separate thing. Go to Full Review

Poe S Sep 1, 2017 Not nearly as good as others. War reporter woman stupid as fuck. Shows fallen comrade and mostly raids. Not as powerful
Harry L Jul 18, 2017 This movie was very moving and has a lot of action. I enjoyed it!
Leia P Jun 7, 2017 Danger Close, the latest in the Heroes of Valor collection, follows freelance reporter Alex Quade as she tells the story of fallen Green Beret Rob Pirelli. Through all of the self-shot footage, Quade does a great job showing the authentic experiences and bravery of our troops while deployed. Out of every movie I have ever seen, this has taught me the most about what our selfless soldiers go through. Having loved this documentary, I recommend it to those who want to support and learn about what our soldiers do.  See more
Draco G Jun 7, 2017 I've never felt as much anticipation and emotion in a documentary as I did while watching Danger Close. Everything about this film was spectacular and I enjoyed every second of war reporter Alex Quade's rendition of her experience in Iraq. Her journey to honor a fallen soldier's family led her on a perilous mission, hitchhiking between squadrons on her way to the combat outpost that he built. Her dedication is inspiring and enthuses so much respect for our Armed Forces. Sargent Rob Pirelli gave his life to protect both his country and his fellow troops, and watching his family see all the work he put into the outpost brought tears to my eyes. I love the intimacy Quade captures when soldiers talk fondly of Pirelli and the family's bittersweet melancholy when remembering their loved one. Directors Salzberg and Tureaud created a masterpiece of a film that gives our Military the respect and honor it deserves. See more
Kylo R Jun 2, 2017 Danger Close features an award-winning journalist Alex Quade that takes on a task that no other journalist has ever done before. She creates a mission for herself to bring closure to the family of fallen soldier Sgt. Rob Pirelli by travelling through the depths of war in Iraq to visit Combat Outpost Pirelli; a site that Rob himself built. The film offers an authentic and powerful conception of unity and heroism that really hits home. My favorite scenes in the film were the ones where Quade takes her point and shoot camera and personally interviews soldiers that fought alongside of Pirelli to hear their stories of their times together and convey their respect for the fallen hero. Their glowing words followed by the remembrances and heartache of Rob's family is truly touching and empathic. Danger Close is the perfect synthesis of nobility, valiance and heart that is sure to please any film fan in search of a compelling military documentary. See more
Abraham L Jun 2, 2017 Amidst the crackle of gunfire and whirring of helicopter blades in thrilling new military documentary "Danger Close," comes the voice of Alex Quade, guiding the viewer through an inspirational and moving story. Woven throughout genuine footage of raids and aerial strikes comes a pilgrimage of courage, determination and brotherhood. Stitched into the very fabric of the story is the resilience of the human spirit, and the prevailing strength of unity and brotherhood. "Danger Close," is a new and stunning documentary that, with a certain clarity and skill, captures the journey of freelance journalist Alex Quade as she hopscotches her way across a War Zone, in order to bring closure to a grieving Gold Star Family. Directors David Salzberg and Christian Tureaud skillfully navigate the pitfalls of such a task of condensing a myriad of military footage into a cohesive story, balancing tense vivid moments on the field with still meditative expressions of loss from the families back home. This film could have easily turned into an overworked combat film, essentially akin to watching a video game, but instead Salzberg and Tureaud take a more human approach, making the film all the better for it. Definitely one of the best films this year, with the tightest editing, best soundtrack and most moving exploration into a real world issue. When this hits the screen, you won't want to miss it.
