Critics Consensus

Cujo is artless work punctuated with moments of high canine gore and one wild Dee Wallace performance.

The movie is as nasty and single-minded as Cujo himself: It's simple, and it works. Go to Full Review

A truly absurd film that never found the conductor thread of its story... transporting the facts from the novel wasn't enough. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Draco S Apr 14, 2019 I remember seeing bits and pieces of this movie back when I was a kid and truthfully this one hasn't aged the best. Cujo is based on the 1981 Stephen King novel of the same name. Cujo is the tale of a dog that is bit by a bat and goes rabid and on a bit of a killing spree. Mixed into this is a lady named Donna Trenton (Dee Wallace) who is cheating on her husband Vic (Daniel Hugh Kelly) with an ex named Steve (Christopher Stone). It's kinda random in this movie and doesn't exactly move the plot in any direction other than showing that Donna isn't perfect. One day while Vic is away on business Donna takes her son Tad (Danny Pintauro) with her to get their car fixed. During this time Cujo is actually at the mechanics shop (being the mechanics dog) and attacks. Donna thinking quick closes the doors, but her car will not start leaving her and Tad stranded in a heat wave struggling to survive. That's literally the plot. It's very simple and to the point. The thing is that it takes about 45 minutes to even get to that. The pacing here is pretty slow and for a horror film this one just doesn't do it for me. It's a movie that maybe during the time was frightening and just kind of scared people of dogs maybe, but I found the movie to just not work for me overall. It's well acted and I enjoyed Dee Wallace especially, but for most people this will be a skip. See more
Hagrid G Mar 21, 2019 The people in the movie felt just plain stupid. At least the nutcase dog died at the end props for that.
Anakin M Mar 2, 2019 Exceptionally terrifying.
Han S Jan 29, 2019 While the acting in Cujo is fantastic, the poor pacing brings it down. I also wish the filmmakers would have added more of Stephen King's original story. See more
George M Dec 13, 2018 Cujo, as it is a bit slow at the start, kicks off with a really gory but fun and entertaining movie. I never felt bored while I was watching it, and great acting also improves the Cujo movie. Great movie to watch on a Friday night! See more
