Initially conceived as a soft-core porno, Kelljan eventually crafted this into a sort of Bram Stoker parody, although not everyone involved in the production seemed to be aware of this. Go to Full Review

Yorga's Southern California styles and setting are now Brady Bunch retro-chic, while its self-conscious exploitation of the era's newly liberated 'free love' attitudes has in 30 years slid from being cool to quaint. Go to Full Review

Albus S Apr 16, 2018 Absolutely the scariest movie I saw as a kid, it seemed so real, it had a contemporary setting, when most V movies went for the classic era. So gritty it's almost punk. See more
Han R Nov 26, 2017 Solid little AIP vampire pictures set in modern day Los Angeles. A young couple find themselves the guests of a Bulgarian count following the death of the young woman's mother. The counts and the mother had been involved, but after being invited back to the count's home, the film's heroine wakes up the next day feeling ill and her doctor informing her that she's suffered extreme blood loss. Hmmmm. How could that be? Overall, this film isn't as slickly made as the Hammer Horror films of this period, but it does have it's own low budget charms, primarily the Los Angeles setting, a few good visuals (particularly the count's "brides") and a fair amount of gory special effects. Hollywood veteran George Macready narrates the film's opening (his son was a producer on the film) and Michael Murphy, in an early role, also appears in the film. See more
Albus M Mar 27, 2017 This is a film I've always heard of as something worth tracking down over the years, but it honestly left me rather cold. I mostly found it overly slow and uninteresting, even though it was apparently popular enough to warrant a sequel. Rental? Maybe? See more
