What to Know

Critics Consensus

Colossal's singular strangeness can be disorienting, but viewers who hang on may find that its genre-defying execution -- and Anne Hathaway's performance -- is well worth the ride.

Nacho Vigalondo’s latest is a film that’s equal parts indie rom-com, psychological horror, and monster-movie seems never to miss a single step. Go to Full Review

Introduced as the classic nice guy, Oscar’s arc is not only an ideal foil for Gloria’s journey, but forms the reactive core of the film’s biting take on gender and ego. Go to Full Review

Abraham S Apr 20, 2019 I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked out this movie. I saw it had great ratings, but the story looked weird from the trailer. After watching it, I wasn't disappointed. The story played out very well and the actors all did a great job. It was strange to see Jason Sudeikis as the antagonist, but I was happy with the ending. I would be glad to watch this movie again. Ron L Apr 19, 2019 One of those films worth a watch, not fantastic, but not something you'll regret watching if you like sci-fi type of stuff.
Mar 26, 2019 I was all in at the start, but then it twisted in a bad direction and I was out. Very interesting story but not at all what the trailers and posters were selling. See more
Draco G Mar 25, 2019 This movie is much too long. There is no action for some 20mins as we get boring character development. Then the girl goes home, meets her old boyfriend, and then the monster shows up in Seoul. Why SK, not London or Melbourne, no explanation iis given. How and why does Gloria control the monster, why at 8:05pm, why rip off Godzilla, no one knows. Anyway, this film is just too incomprehensible and is a waste of time and money, See more

Poe W Mar 5, 2019 This film is pointless. The first 1/3 of the film is barely entertaining and stock-standard run-of-the-mill relationship stuff: 2 stars. The second 1/3 introduces some new concepts and is good: 3 stars. The final 1/3 is quite rediculous and the direction of the plot, along with the below average dialogue, represent possibly the silliest choices that anyone could make: 0 stars. Overall: a very poor film that could have been 3 to 3.5 stars (which is not that great, anyway), if only the plot in the final 1/3 was completely rewritten. See more
