Los Angeles policeman Lt. Marion "Cobra" Cobretti (Sylvester Stallone) finds himself at the center of a spate of murders carried out by a secret society called New Order: killers who select "weak" members of society for extermination. As the murder rate rises, Cobra takes model Ingrid (Brigitte Nielsen) into protective custody after she witnesses New Order's leader in action. As Cobra falls for Ingrid, they find shelter in a small town, but must soon fight for survival.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

A disengaged Sylvester Stallone plays the titular Cobra with no bite in this leaden action thriller, queasily fixated on wanton carnage and nothing else.

The movie is such a textbook example of an exploitation cop movie that you can outline it like a schoolboy for easy reference... Go to Full Review

It's fast-paced and full of gaudy action, yet it's thoroughly unsatisfying, largely because it's so lazy. Go to Full Review

What sets Cobra apart from the aforementioned Raw Deal, however, is how director George P. Cosmatos indulges horror conventions alongside the more obvious crime elements. Go to Full Review

Essentially Sylvester Stallone's take on Batman, "Cobra" remains an empty-calorie watch you regret as you shovel it down. Even when sliced into funny shapes with likely unsanitary shears, cold pizza is still cold pizza. Go to Full Review

Rey S Feb 22, 2019 Creative and cheesy as it gets, Cobra is a fun, action filled thriller with everything an 80s film has to offer.
Harry R Nov 18, 2018 Awsomly bad 80's movie. So corny and funny. I love this movie. Oh the characters are just great in it. I never get sick of watching this movie. Oh and so many cheesy one liners. See more
Theodore S Sep 21, 2018 Cobra is the epitome of B movie, the likes 80s excelled in providing us. There is a story floating on the web that states that the reason Stallone wanted to shorten the runtime of Cobra was because he wanted the film to run 5-6 times in a day. Well, that didn't happen because Cobra was savaged by the critics (though it was a big box office hit) but the film is now considered to be something of a minor cult classic. Stallone is the main character- a no nonsense cop and gets entangled with a biker gang. This is a movie to be watched with a cartel of beer and a bunch of friends over the weekend. See more
Luke P Aug 30, 2018 Sylvester Stallone's Cobra(he didn't direct it but such was his clout and influence you might as well consider it his film) is an intentionally hilarious action movie which was ripped apart by critics upon release but the passage of time has somehow made it endearing, and now the film is constantly listed in the list of cult movies. Stallone plays a Dirty Harry-esque tough cop who talks in punches and one liners. His job is to safeguard a woman who was privy to a murder against a bunch of axe wielding maniacs- who happen to be the unnamed bad guys. The film is basic action set piece after another, the kind the 80s excelled in. If you're in the mood for some bad 80s movie you cannot go wrong with Cobra. See more
Hagrid M Aug 28, 2018 Because of it's rating of 17% on this site, I was very sceptical about watching as I don't trust a movie if it's rating is bad on Rotten Tomatoes, but I decided to give it a go as I am a fan of cops and serial killers, and I will say it was quiet nail biting and kept involved, and seeing Sylvester Stallone in action makes it better.
