What to Know

Critics Consensus

Though it's gimmicky and occasionally feels like a high-end cell phone ad, Cellular is also an energetic and twisty thriller.

Poe R Mar 26, 2019 I really enjoyed this movie
Feb 18, 2019 Occasionally silly, definitely contrived, but surprisingly likable
Leia S Feb 7, 2019 This movie is worth the watch. It may be out of date with the whole cinematic and the fake acting style, but the content and the context of the props and the genre storyline is missing from modern day Hollywood. The acting isn't the greatest, which personally, caused the whole film to falter. Other than the not so great acting, the film has a pretty decent cast. More good looking and attractive than the current Hollywood Actors. It's unfortunate that you don't see these actors or know of these actors where about today. Hopefully these people will resurface to the stage, because this movie was well worth the watch, and their acting and their platform is well useful in the Hollywood industry and social society of the USA Culture. Leia R Feb 7, 2019 I watched this move when i was 10. And i saw this with my mom. Honestly I like this movie. I find it more entertaining the most modern movies. This was the first movie that i ever seen Chris Evans and Jason Statham, both were good in the film. Why is it a 4 star for me? No Reason a movie needs to hit the right spot to make me give it a five. A for 4 is still really good for me especially that it's supose to be. I love it and It would be in my top 100 favorite movies of all time. See more
Harry M Jan 20, 2019 In the spirit of other turn-of-the-digital-epoch techno-thrillers like LAWNMOWER MAN and THE NET, the movie's paranoia and moral panic about the intrusion of the acousmatic voice via first gen cell phones overwhelms all attempts at logic and comprehension. As tense as a phone line with a plague of grackles perched atop, there are too many wires crossed and calls dropped, too many narrative threads and questions left unanswered, for this to end up making sense, even if it makes for great fun in the end. Poe W Dec 23, 2018 This film took me by surprise. Its fast paced and full of frills which make going to the cinema one of the joys of modern life. Cellular is a nearly perfectly executed "high concept" thriller, that, like Speed and Phone Booth, uses a gimmicky setup but is paced so relentlessly that you don't have time to dwell upon the obvious implausibility of the situation. Cellular reliably entertains for its 90-minute running time. Using the clever premise, it packs a lot of thrills into a short space while keeping the level of tension consistently high. There's time for exposition, but never so much that it breaks the action for too long. The storyline is cleverly developed, but not overplotted. See more
