Unless you're morbidly curious about how one of the loudest, strangest, and most irreverent and original moments in rock history can be transformed into a jukebox musical for the entertainment of precisely no one, there's no need to see CBGB. Go to Full Review

The music rocks, but little else does, in Randall Miller's sitcom snapshot of New York's iconic punk incubator. Go to Full Review

A lightweight love song to a legendary rock club, Randall Miller's CBGB plays in many ways like a Greatest Hits record, re-packaging a beloved band's oeuvre for sale at shopping malls. Go to Full Review

Takes an exciting story of an important time and shaves all the rough edges away, leaving behind smoothed over vision of a rough-and-ready time. Go to Full Review

Moments of nostalgic emotion are ever so briefly reached, and evaporate so quickly that your only desire will be to listen to the actual music of the cavalcade of artists paraded across the screen. Go to Full Review

Theodore P Oct 24, 2018 Fun romp at a snapshot of CBGB and Punk magazine; unfortunate diversion at managing the Dead Boys derails the movie at the halfway point See more
Kylo S Mar 9, 2018 The late alan rickman is perfect for the role of Hilly krystal. a delightful return to the filth and fury of punkdom. and who could not like the ramones? See more
Hagrid R Dec 18, 2017 This movie was good. It explained the history of the club with good music.
Albus S Apr 28, 2017 3 Stars I'm shocked how critics just murdered this movie, it was decently entertaining for me. at least above average Plus Alan Rickman's performance is top notch, rest in peace See more
Kylo S Mar 15, 2017 I liked it. The inimitable Alan Rickman gives an understated performance as Hilly, and the whole cast seems to take his lead. It has a feeling of being dirty and weird, just like CBGB. Really, the only thing I didn't like about it was the casting of Kyle Gallner as Lou Reed. The fact that the critics hated it is appropriate for a movie about the home of punk rock. See more
Abraham W Jan 16, 2017 Great movie, interesting story, and I especially enjoyed the anarchistic Hilly Crystal.
