Critics Consensus

Despite its stylized and impressive sets, this horror-monster movie mish-mash suffers from endless cliches and wildly implausible plotlines.

If the creature in Alien had proliferated like the movie’s knockoffs, mankind would never have survived. Go to Full Review

Not only is Patrick Tatopoulos' (I, Robot) creature design laughable, but the actors (other than Hauser who somehow manages to make it through unscathed) give some of most shockingly awful performances I've seen all year. Go to Full Review

Yet if all you crave is a well-produced, stylized creature-feature that boasts an easy-on-the-eyes cast and some underrated monsters, then you’re in luck. Go to Full Review

The Cave is a decently crafted but unoriginal and uninspiring creature feature with a few moments of true entertainment that the rest of the film never matches up to. Go to Full Review

Replete with winged undersea cave monsters, unlikely mountain climbing heroics and a mutating microbe that turns its victims into creatures-in-waiting "The Cave" is a paint-by-numbers thriller lacking in pigment. Go to Full Review

Hagrid W Jun 5, 2018 Tipica a mas no poder. Me entretuvo a duras penas
Abraham M Apr 1, 2018 For a movie released in 2005, this seemed to be okay. Watching it now in 2018 you can expect it to be not so great as a lot has changed since this movie came out. I think the movie was fine, it was interesting as far as it can get inside a cave. The monsters looked a bit cheap, but again it was a long time ago this movie came out. Good ending. See more
Han W Feb 11, 2018 I think it was an amazing movie ! Could of been better if it had vin diesel though Movie should be remake!!
George R Jun 28, 2017 Quite possibly the worst movie I've ever expected to be good. The acting in it was so subpar. It literally makes you laugh in pity. A complete disaster from start to horrible finish. See more
Anakin W Apr 22, 2017 Mucha suerte y poca realidad
Theodore R Aug 5, 2007 A rip off of/homage to Neil Marshall's The Descent. This time with a group of men who's personalities range from confident and capable to unerringly confident and capable, instead of a group of nuanced women. The two female characters are Piper Perabo as the one in the half top and Lena Heady as the "smart" scientist who we know is strong because she is sexually aggressive towards one of the interchangeable men. The Cave looks great. The camera work and staging is excellent but who cares! The story is predictable and the monster is cheap and derivative. A movie so forgettable that I thought I had already seen it. See more
