What to Know

Critics Consensus

A disjointed and murky biopic, Capone offers little more than a series of blood-soaked shoot-outs.

Capone's clammy atmosphere works because it throws the memory of Watergate at the audience, and the audience can't help but respond. Go to Full Review

It is in its mood of point and counterpoint and in the character interpretations... that "Capone" makes its strongest case. Go to Full Review

The primary reason for seeing Capone... is Ben Gazzara's interpretation of the gangster... he plays Capone like an animal afflicted with hypertension. Go to Full Review

"Capone" will please lovers of bloody action and shoot-outs. For others, it will have little to offer except Gazzara's acting. Go to Full Review

Luke S Sep 13, 2017 Capone is a disappointing film. It is about the rise and fall of the infamous Chicago gangster Al Capone. Ben Gazzara and Susan Blakely give horrible performances. The script is badly written. Steve Carver did a terrible job directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture. See more
Hagrid W Mar 10, 2017 Playing like a cartoon version of The Godfather, this purported biopic of Al Capone features a puffy smirking Ben Gazzara (was he borrowing Brando's cotton wool?) and several litres of red paint masquerading as blood. The whole ninety minutes seems to have been shot on the Fox backlot. Good actors like Harry Guardino and John Cassavetes lend some necessary weight, and a young Sylvester Stallone proves he can more than hold his own. But it's disposable stuff. See more
