I think the audience of millions created by the book will not be disappointed. Those who are innocent of the troubles aboard the Caine will find this version of them engrossing. Go to Full Review

Han W Jul 11, 2018 Stolid and melodramatic WW2 drama, rather obviously exploring the machinations and cowardice of a group of naval officers trying to protect themselves while their captain (Bogart) obsesses about strawberries. The acting - apart from a surprisingly fine Van Johnson - is very broad and theatrical. The model work is terrible and the whole thing feels like the last gasp of a particular type of uncinematic and terribly talky non-movie. See more
Abraham W Feb 23, 2017 Fantastic as both a leadership study and a drama, asking tough questions about duty and loyalty.
Hermione R Apr 30, 2014 Fred MacMurray is phenomenal as the coward that causes the mess that is the Caine Mutiny. Interesting take on how people can make poor decisions when they feel alone and excluded. See more
Leia M Mar 1, 2008 The most talked about aspect of this movie is Bogart's superb performance as Captain Queeg, a Navy Commander who suffers from acute paranoia. Granted the greatness of the film holds Bogart's usual ease and masterful stroke accountable. The Pulitzer Prize winning novel was a bit controversial as was this picture for portraying a mutiny upon a U.S Naval Commanding Officer which they are sure to remind us in the beginning title cards that a mutiny has never happened in the U.S Navy before. There are many comical and memorable scenes. Most of which involve Bogart who doesn't show up until 30 minutes into the film. The most famous of course being the court held on which crew member ate the remaining strawberries. The Caine Mutiny is an exceptionally casted war film that investigates the psychological effects of war on soldiers more so than the actual battles themselves. See more
