My problems with Cadillac Man were probably inspired more by false expectations than by anything on the screen, and maybe if Robbins had come crashing in through the window in the first scene I would have liked it more. Go to Full Review

Abraham G Nov 19, 2017 Cadillac Man is an obvious choice to review because Robin Williams is dead, the film is not a box office success and it's a rip-off of Dog Day Afternoon which is unexpected. Robin Williams is Joey O'Brian the car salesman who loves women and loves his job. Tim Robbins is Larry has taken people hostage to find out that his wife Donna is having an affair with someone. So the police surrounds the car dealership. To be honest I don't get the hate but I do get why people hate it cause it's a comedic version of Dog Day Afternoon starring Al Pacino. Robin Williams is funny as always and too bad that he's dead. For all I know, Cadillac Man is good movie to check out if you are a huge fan Robin Williams and don't mind that's it's a comedic version of Dog Day Afternoon. Good film but it was a box office failure. See more
Abraham M Jul 1, 2017 Sometimes, life gives everyone full of surprises. We don't expect them, but they come and go, as with our daily lives. Even if it means being held hostage as is the case with 1990's "Cadillac Man". Starring Robin Williams and Tim Robbins, these two men star in a comedy about what happens during a hot summer day at a car lot. But that doesn't mean the film is good. As it stands, the movie is okay; nothing of great importance happens, but the action is interesting enough to keep you watching the flick. "Cadillac Man" is a light comedy about how one bad day can turn into of the biggest surprises life has given. The story has Joey O'Brien (Williams) trying to sell some cars while also looking good while doing it. Unfortunately, his personal life is not that good. Mostly dealing with people of the opposite sex. And this holds especially true when a crazed man named Larry (Robbins) comes into the car lot wielding a gun, demanding who has been having an affair with his wife. And it looks like Joey is the main suspect. Now, Joey is in the hot seat for his life. "Cadillac Man" is a mixed bag of a film. For starters, the film promotes itself as a comedy. In reality, there are only a few laughs that consist the whole 97 minute run time. Sure, there are some clever jokes scattered throughout, mostly from Williams, but for the most part, the film stays heavily focused on the dramatic side of things. This could also be tied in with the music; there's barely an orchestrated score, and the film could have worked in some more songs along the way. Also, the script by Ken Friedman seems a little weak, as there is a lot going on, and the action is very fast. If the film had slowed down for just a little bit, then there would have been enough time to understand just what is happening. On the opposite end of things, the movie does have a few redeeming factors. For instance, the direction by Roger Donaldson is good as it focuses on the action unfolding, making the movie quite interesting, as well as entertaining to say the least. The performances here are good as well. The characters from our two main leads, especially Williams, are really enjoyable, and fun to watch. Finally, the setting of a car dealership being under attack is a pretty funny scenario for the purpose of the film. Overall, while "Cadillac Man" does present itself nicely, it feels disjointed by turning a busy work day into a surprising mess. See more
