Albus M Aug 6, 2018 This is a movie for WWII buffs; the Russians speak Russian, the Germans speak German, and all of the equipment and uniforms seem legit. The Panzer 3s even look like real Panzer 3s (I checked the tread wheels). It's the story of a Russian fort that is surrounded in the early days of the Nazi invasion of Russia. It's sort of like a Russian Alamo. Maybe because it was made in Belarus (as opposed to Hollywood), it's a pretty straight telling of the story with minimal melodramatic BS added. See more

Mar 22, 2018 A gripping film that details the doomed heroism of the Red Army defenders of the Brest fortress. It is especially interesting as it shows the political context , the role of the NKVD as a military unit not just political overseers. If you just like war films, and can cope with subtitles, then watch this great film. If you are also interested in politics you will get an added dimension. Yes there is a pr opoganda element but no one can doubt the heroism of the military and civilian defenders who resisted so bravely, for so long. See more

Han S Oct 9, 2017 Well rated in Russian cinema, underrated on the international scene. An epic battle about the first few days of the war between the USSR and Nazi Germany. The level of gore is definitely enough to satiate your WW2 inner demon, and the epic historical realism was astounding as well (like the machine gunning and piling up of thousands of civilians and soldiers alike). This is definitely a movie that must be watched if you enjoy WW2 cinema. A++ See more
