Reflecting influences ranging from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre to Rosemary's Baby to -- well, you name it -- Bleed doesn't exactly break any new ground, stylistically or otherwise. Go to Full Review
Dennis Harvey Variety Mar 29, 2016
Too derivative and not stylish enough to merit any special championing, as indie B-horror movies go, it's nonetheless nicely crafted enough to rate a cut above the low-expectation median. Go to Full Review

Bleed is a supernatural horror film that I want to recommend, but the final act leaves a lot to be desired. Go to Full Review

Bleed is really nothing you haven't seen before, but there's still some pretty interesting elements that result from its mixtape approach. Go to Full Review

Bleed is familiar, by-the-numbers horror filmmaking, but it's also short and sweet enough to capitalize on cheap thrills. Go to Full Review

Anakin R Mar 10, 2019 I created an account just so I could spare other humans from wasting an hour with this dumpster fire of a movie. The âPlotâ? makes absolutely no sense, and even by terrible horror movie standards the the acting is bad. Nothing is explained at all, and Iâ(TM)m not sure there was even a writer involved, I think it was actually written by a goat with a magic 8 ball. See more
Anakin W Nov 10, 2018 Bleed is the reason I will now look at reviews before I watch. It made absolutely no sense from the start. It explains nothing of what is happening in the town and the birthmark. The ending makes no sense. It is horrible and I hope people stay away from this movie. I do not understand how it received 5 star reviews. See more
Kylo R Aug 26, 2018 The story that Rhame tells is a crisp, modern horror tale that stays pretty close to classic horror story ideas. There is the "newcomers to rural America fear", a paranormal element that teases to the horrors to come, and an "abnormal" community of crazy cult people. The characters are contemporary hipster-esque, well developed, and believable enough to be interesting. However they are not all too original, and the direction the story takes them in is slightly off-kilter. Some choices the characters make didn't quite make sense. Still they are far from the standard two-dimensional clichés normally associated with traditional horror movies. "Bleed" has a tight, suspenseful energy that starts slow, and like the characters destiny, rolls into a tense, and bloody nightmare. The cinematography is great and stylized in a manner that offers a claustrophobic quality to the already dark nature of the story. The effects are a blend of well done typical CGI paranormal tricks and practical gory effects that offer blunt, visceral moments of carnage. "Bleed" is a B-level movie that creates an atmospheric, thrilling nightmare worth watching. See more
Leia S Feb 10, 2018 Awful characters, 'plot' that barely exists, characters ended but you don't find out till other characters find them, seemed like they were trying to make it unpredictable but it turned out nonsensical. It's just pure dreck. Don't waste your time. See more
Poe M Jan 24, 2018 With a baby on the way, Sarah (Chelsey Crisp) and Matt (Michael Steger) decide to have some friends over to celebrate their new home and new family. It should have been a quiet day, until Sarah's unique brother Eric (Riley Smith) shows up. Eric is a drifter and a ghost hunter, whose bad behavior and odd ball girlfriend threaten to ruin the whole event. Eventually Eric gets into a discussion about what he does, and wanting to silence the skeptics, suggests a ghost hunt at an abandoned nearby prison, that's supposedly haunted. Well how could a woman who is six months pregnant not agree to hike through the woods to a haunted abandon building in the middle of nowhere? That part was a little ridiculous, but the backstory of the prison and the family dynamic actually wasn't too bad, especially for a B-horror movie without any big names attached to it. However that is what also becomes it's downfall, as once the action begins, the lack of experience and money for special effects comes into play, and this film quickly turns more into what I expected it to be. At 40 years old, Riley Smith seems to have been around forever, with over 75 IMDB credits under his belt. He was a pretty interesting character, why there wasn't more of a focus on Eric in the second half of the film, I don't know. I'm just a critic, but I can tell you from my experience, when you lack funds for better special effects, focus on the story and the experienced cast. The filmmakers didn't do that, and the whole thing just kind of falls apart at the end. Bleed wasn't bad for what it was, the first half half was better than expected, the second half, where all the fun stuff happens, was pretty much a disappointment. See more
Albus P Nov 10, 2017 A supernatural horror short on answers and high on stupidity perpetrated by seemingly intelligent characters. A young couple escape city life to the country to birth and raise their soon to be born daughter. Friends and relatives come to the housewarming. The twin brother is an amateur ghost hunter who convinces everyone (minus the pregnant one) to accompany him to a burned down prison that one housed a notorious serial killer. Fair acting and fair effects. Indie movie standards. When the movie poster turns out to be the coolest thing about a movie, you have issues. See more
