What to Know

Critics Consensus

With an outrageous premise played completely straight, Black Sheep is a violent, grotesque, and very funny movie that takes B-movie lunacy to a delirious extreme.

This woolly mix of hilarity and horror works best when played for baaad laughs. One thing is sure - it will put you off doner kebabs for life. Go to Full Review

The farce maintains a rollicking pace and the performances are more accomplished and likeable than a film of this sort generally musters. Go to Full Review

Gore and blood supply the film’s main attractions, whereas humor and characters are secondary, if not wholly nonexistent. Go to Full Review

A heap of fun. In the vein of modern B-movie classics like Tremors and Arachnophobia, Black Sheep never takes itself too seriously Go to Full Review

They used to say New Zealand was the land where men are men, and the sheep are nervous. That equation may be reversed forevermore after this very entertaining Kiwi horror-comedy. Go to Full Review

Feb 23, 2019 This film I chose to watch instead of Lake Fear 2014 It was Funny and not too cringey at all, I knew going in it was a funny horror thankfully but even if i didn't I would have enjoyed the film. The script cinematography and score matched the tone and theme of the movie and did not let it down at all, the effects of the sheep were great and the film didn't try to pull one over on you with cheap jump scares. I really do recommend this movie if you haven't seen it and enjoy a good black comedy. See more
Hermione R Sep 25, 2018 Caught this film on my day off, not quite the guilty fun film I was looking for, but it had its moments. The fun was the cast who give the concept everything, its the banter that I enjoyed throughout. The film fails when it attempts to ramp up the action for the horror crowd, the jagged tone shifts don't suit and you are left with some very out there moments. People turn into sheep and turn back from humanoid sheep to humans, it is one very crazy film. I wanted to find something here, much like Dog Soldiers by Neil Marshal, that was a comedy/horror concept that paid off. The film was a success so it must have its fans but for a once off watch, it wasn't the worst high concept horror film out there. 25/09/2018. See more
Harry L Jul 19, 2017 Don't go into this movie thinking you will be scared. it is one of those movies that is so bad that it ends up ditching its intended genre and turns into a comedy with gore. the story is stupid. the editing is ok at best. the special effects can be lacking. but if you are just looking for a movie to have some fun with friends then this is a fine example of what you are looking for. Luke L Feb 3, 2016 Gory horror comedy like early Peter Jackson. Not just regular over-the-top, but extremely ridiculous. Silly premise, neat effects that were legitimately creepy, overall an entertaining B movie. 6.5/10 See more
Leia R Aug 12, 2010 Minimally amusing horror comedy.
