It's not perfect (it can be exhausting at times, actually), but it says a lot about people, narcissism and the co-dependent relationship between actor and celebrity. Go to Full Review
Jason Bailey Flavorwire Jun 18, 2016
A thunderbolt reminder of the kind of quick-thinking, quick-talking, quick-witted characters that Keaton used to specialize in, and Iñárritu finds the right style to showcase his gifts. Go to Full Review
Nick Schager Esquire Magazine Feb 22, 2016
Even when Keaton is transforming his character's stock issues into ones that feel unique and genuine, he's undercut by his director's flashiness, right up to an on-the-nose finale. Go to Full Review

'Birdman' probes both the death of and subsequent resurrection of art in the age of the superhero with a brand of ironic wit and industrial precision that don't often coincide. Go to Full Review

What Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu was able to achieve in this film is still astounding to me. Go to Full Review

...a film that is just as much about the film industry itself, as it is about the pursuit of happiness, and our ridiculously desperate need to be admired, recognized, and respected by people that shouldn’t really matter to us. Go to Full Review

Apr 26, 2019 For a long time, I haven't seen a film whose message really isn't all that complicated, but yet was able to tell its story in such a daringly creative way. The highlight of course is its technical masterclass with astounding work in editing, cinematography and visual effects. But this is all thanks to Inarritu, whose vision is superbly realized. Keaton is fantastic as the troubled protagonist constantly seeking redemption, but credit must be given to the whole ensemble, who even with their short screen time, all definitively stand out, leaving us with a breathtaking film that immersing us in a man's conflict with society, which ultimately, is really a conflict with his own regrets. Draco L Apr 21, 2019 Somewhat of a mi between The Wrestler (as the main character tries to reconstitute his life after his fame peak) and Black Swan (as the madness involved in pushing the main character so far), Birdman is very audacious in the movie making with very long sequences, but it definitely pulls it off thanks to great actors such as Emma Stone, Edward Norton and of course Michael Keaton! A well deserving Best Picture. See more
Finn S Apr 14, 2019 Now no movie is perfect, but some like Birdman are really close. Birdman is a drama/romance directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu. The film stars Michael Keaton as Birdman and Edward Norton as Mike Shiner. The film has some of the best acting I've seen in film and probably will ever see. In my opinion Michael Keaton gave his best performance yet from the dialogue delivery to his emotional facial movements. The characters were portrayed and written very well from Birdman to Mike Shiner. The film has outstanding cinematography with some of the best shots I have ever seen. The film is mostly set in a theatre showing the main stage and the backstage for nearly the entire film. The film also has really good set design and props that put you into the scene incredibly well. I personally think that the film has a great style from the colour scheme to the cinematography. The film also has some very good practical and special effects throughout the runtime of the film. The film also has a very strong dialogue which is written and spoken really well. The editing is exemplary with some of the best editing in cinema history. It's so good in fact that for nearly the entire movie it feels like one continues shot. The film also has some very nice music that fits really well into the background. The story is great from start to finish, and has a really strong and kind of uplifting ending. The film also has some really strong comedy that had me laughing out loud throughout the movie. The atmosphere is great especially when the characters were on stage. The film is a little emotional at points, but not enough to cry over. The film is also really enjoyable and just a great experience. Over all I give it a 10/10 - masterpiece See more

Draco M Apr 12, 2019 Oh I could rave, but lets just say what acting, everyone, what direction, what sound (that jazz drumming man), with technical, what script, what delivery. Bloody brilliant. See more
Albus S Mar 16, 2019 3/17/2019 I finally had the chance to sit through and finish this and it ain't bad. The camerawork makes for the audience as omnipresent voyeurs to the goings on behind the scenes of a struggling play trying to break through the big leagues. The side story of whether the lead character is a real superhero or not was left up in the air, which adds to charm of it all. See more
