The survivors must now avoid coming face to face with an entity that takes the form of their worst fears. Searching for hope and a new beginning, a woman and her children embark on a dangerous journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer sanctuary. To make it, they'll have to cover their eyes from the evil that chases them -- and complete the trip blindfolded.

Critics Consensus

Bird Box never quite reaches its intriguing potential, but strong acting and an effectively chilly mood offer intermittently creepy compensation.

Finale aside, Bird Box is a taut thriller that keeps you hooked. Go to Full Review

Bird Box, led by a strong Sandra Bullock, does a solid job of telling a story that compares the desire to destroy oneself with the constantly challenging nature of being a parent. Go to Full Review

The acting is excellent throughout, as well as the direction. The story and thematic material are handled adeptly while maintaining a steady pace of tension and release. You should definitely see it. Go to Full Review

It seems more occupied with delivering short term anxieties via separate sequences, like driving a car blind or two births occurring side by side, than refining the overall product to leave a lasting impact. Go to Full Review

Bullock is the one that really shines here, she does an outstanding job and her performance made me realize how much I miss seeing her on-screen. She has a certain kind of charisma and presence... Go to Full Review

Ron S Apr 28, 2019 At first I thought this movie was okay but as I kept thinking about it and after a second viewing I have come to the conclusion that this movie is stupid. This movie just is very dumb and very laughable. I would recommend watching this film because there are some laughable parts but it is boring in some parts. I would say the best way to watch this is with a bunch of friends and just make fun of it the whole time. See more
Abraham R Apr 27, 2019 What garbage. What a blatantly racist, anti-white movie. No wonder there is so much strife in the country.
Hagrid G Apr 23, 2019 The Netflix original is better left as a meme. The movie is slow and all the humor is default Netflix. I never once became attached to any character and throughout the film and when I lost them it had zero impact. The concept of a monster that you can't see is interesting but silly. The trailer is full of moments from the first 5 minutes, all of which are the best parts of the film. If you want a movie that is like this one but better then watch The Mist. See more
Hagrid S Apr 20, 2019 It's creepy but not enough story building and believable action. Lots of jump moments, but kind of boring.
Apr 17, 2019 I loved birdbox, such a great story!
Harry R Apr 17, 2019 I think this movie had a lot of potential, but fell flat. Before seeing this movie people had told me that it terrified them, one had even said that it gave them a panic attack. I'm not normally scared by movies, but I had high hopes. I think the scenes with Sandra bullock and her two kids had a nice ambiance, but they didn't make me scared. As for the scenes in the house, (the flashback scenes), were fine at BEST. All the characters were overused stereotypes; The punk, the hot girl, the one black guy that dies first, and the fat one who's only there for comedic purposes and to hinder the characters from there goal. They had no personality or any charm to make me root for them. Overall the concept was pretty cool, but the execution was just disappointing. See more
