The U.S. president (Samuel L. Jackson) must rely on a 13-year-old boy (Onni Tommila) to get him out alive after Air Force One is shot down over Finland as part of a psychopath's plot to hunt and kill the POTUS.

Critics Consensus

Big Game's enthusiastic throwback vibe will appeal to fans of low-budget '80s action movies, but co-writer/director Jalmari Helander adds a level of smarts and skill that make it more than just an homage.

The story penned by Helander with Petri Jokiranta goes heavy on the hokum, not to mention the CGI fireworks, but a dialled-down Jackson and a fired-up Tommila make for an entertaining pair.

There are times when it seems impossible that it could possibly exist as a real thing and not just as a parody trailer that accidentally got inflated to feature length.

The storyline is far from fresh. But the location is, and it is excitingly filmed and engagingly performed.

It might be so incredibly terrible that it's too bad to ever become a "so-bad-it's-good" guilty pleasure and cult favorite.

The real shame is that Jackson and Tommila have a prickly chemistry together, and it would have been special had it not been in a movie that sucked quite as hard.

Reminded me of decades ago when a few action movies were made for teens. If this would have came out in the mid 1970s. It would have been a blockbuster. Probably the best "Get that teen mind motivated" movie ever made. Unfortunately, it was made decades too late!

Big Lame, Not a Jackson film you are accustomed to. He plays a wimpy character of President and the B movie direct to TV sets in immediately. Barely watchable. Go find Long Kiss Goodnight where Jackson plays a great character or watch Negotiator for the 5th time it would be more enjoyable.

I'm not sure how this movie got 78% from the Critics. It's pretty bad. It is kind of a throw back to a bad 80's Family-Action film. It has quite a cast for such a silly movie. There are a couple decent scenes, but don't expect a whole lot from this movie.

Not as bad as I thought - but still not that great either.

Big Game does well to excite its audience with this 1980s throwback.

Utter tripe, unless you're twelve years of age.
