It's a rousing, feel-good story about overcoming barriers, even when the challenges - poverty, lack of medical access - are inherently bleak. Go to Full Review

This powerful film profiles a group of heroes who took the call to see healthcare as a duty and service, rather than as a clinical enterprise. Go to Full Review

Beautifully shot and edited, the movie does justice to its subjects. Still, it has [a] promo-video quality, at times ... that detracts from its perfection. Go to Full Review

Hermione S Nov 8, 2017 While Partners in Health has done amazing work for the medical communities in rural areas and significant work overall for Global Health, this documentary takes on a heavy handed and slanted view of events surrounding Paul Farmers and PiH's work. Casting broad strokes of hero vs villain in a manner that doesn't illustrate the complexity of situations. The movie takes an aggressive stance against people in the scientific community who are posing questions, which are very legitimate, about their work and results. This process means that results are not taken at face value, but need to be verified and repeated. This process is critical and important, but is instead these scientists are cast as villains. While I appreciate and admire Paul Farmer's and Partners in Health's work, this felt pandering and biased and tunnel-visioned. See more

Oct 3, 2017 Just saw this last night in Spokane, WA at the Magic Lantern. Life changing, literally. Don't miss it.
Albus G Jan 24, 2017 This documentary is the product of 11 years of painstaking work and a whole lot of funding from some powerful Hollywood voices. The effect of this determined effort was reflected on the tear stained faces of almost every audience member at it's Sundance premier. To be clear, Bending the Arc is not an indie doc. Complete with well scripted voice overs, slick transitions and a dynamite score, this feels like a big budget doc, done exceptionally well. Whether familiar with Kidder's wonderful book or not, this is a documentary everyone should see. See more
