...this film has ferrets, up to here. Action cinema is so often coy about the portrayal of ferrets on the big screen, but The Beastmaster breaks taboos, never panning coyly away when ferrets are introduced, instead focusing in granular detail... Go to Full Review

In its attempt to outdo every other fantasy epic to date, culling pieces from everything in the last decade, it manages only to be one of the more forgettable of the genre. Go to Full Review

Ron S Jan 2, 2019 This movie is a cult classic. If you enjoy the fantasy barbarous. Style movie this is a must see. Acting is well done the visual effects for 1982 are spot on. The story telling really is what grips me with all the creativity in Dar's side kicks and the other civilizations he encounters. See more
Luke R Nov 26, 2018 Marc Singer is actually not so bad of an actor. However, I really can't understand how a film like this got funded with such horrible writing. (I guess T & A really does bring in money. Yay Tanya Roberts.) See more
Draco S Nov 11, 2018 Uncanny and well-paced with some freakish men, beasts and man-creatures, this movie still holds up, with the exception of the fight scene direction where, seriously, someone wasn't getting the camera angles right. See more
Harry S Feb 5, 2018 The film isn't the greatest of its kind but there is a creative side of the film that can't be denied. Coscarelli crafted a fun film that deserves the cult status it has achieved since its release. The film kicks off with one truly weird scene but settles afterward and delivers a crazy adventure. The production values look great and knowing the low budget, you can't help be amazed by what was on the screen. They milked every dollar and there is nothing wasted on the screen, the animals are the true stars and the connection is one of the better aspects of the film. This was never going to win awards but it is not a bad film just one film that couldn't balance the sheer creativeness of the storyline. It was a shame the director didn't come back for a second film as the one that was made killed the franchise, relegating it to straight to video status. 01-02-2018. See more
Theodore S Nov 19, 2017 A sword and sorcery picture with a lot of silly scenes, compensated by a few tit & ass shots. Premiered a few months after the iconic "Conan, The Barbarian" it feels like a cheap knock-off, and Wikipedia notes that the script has little from the original 1950s book. Hagrid G Sep 28, 2017 The Beastmaster is a film that, to me, was an instant classic. This movie had everything a young boy of the 80's could want. Action, swords, high fantasy, magic, an awesome hero, a sexy love interest (played by future Bond Girl Tanya Roberts), and really badass villains. This was the kind of movie that you reenacted on the playground at school, the kind you acted out with your action figures. I can't tell you how many times me and my friends would play out the adventure of The Beastmaster! for more go to: http://wp.me/p93it6-oQ See more
