At the Royal National Gallery in London, the bumbling Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) is a guard with good intentions who always seems to destroy anything he touches. Unless, of course, he's sleeping on the job. With the chairman (John Mills) blocking Bean's firing, the board decides to send him to a Los Angeles art gallery under false credentials. When Bean arrives, his chaos-causing ways are as sharp as ever, and curator David Langley (Peter MacNicol) has the unenviable task of keeping Bean in line.

Critics Consensus

Bean boasts a terrifically talented physical comedian in the title role, but his constant mugging and silly slapstick quickly wear thin.

How many English language films can say, "To hell with America!"? Very few. Basically only "Bean", which has already racked up over $100 million before the picture has even unspooled in one New Jersey mall. Go to Full Review

We'll forgive England for the Spice Girls. Maybe even Benny Hill, Joan Collins, Boy George, Fergie and that habit of pouring milk in tea. But with Bean's arrival, it might mean war. Go to Full Review

On television, Bean is charming. In a feature film, directed by Mel Smith, the schtick is overkill. Go to Full Review

Atkinson isn't afraid to use a few of his best skits from the original show in this theatrical venture, but he adds enough new elements to be thoroughly fresh. Go to Full Review

Anakin W Nov 23, 2018 Mr Bean is one of my childhood favorite characters
Kylo S Oct 17, 2018 It saddens me deeply to say this, but...this movie is terrible. Which begs the question: why did I watch it an innumerable amount of times as a kid? The only logical answer is all children, including my younger self, are dumb. See more
Leia G Sep 23, 2018 Ranging from the chicken explosion to the extreme reality rollercoaster, it's a disaster that ends in a good condition. It might not be one of his best film's but Mr. Bean never fails to keep the audience entertained. See more
George S May 8, 2018 Rowan Atkinson enchaine les gags dans une épopée dans le monde de l'art. Même les plus réticents se laissent embarquer dans l'humour et les grimaces. See more
Hermione S Jan 3, 2018 BEAN goes by a weak screenplay and fills up the entire movie with Bean making grunts, silly faces, trouble and accidents which may have been enjoyable in separate 4-minute sketches but definitely not an entire 90 minute movie. Not to mention a lack of character development where all the other characters in the movie exist as "toys" for Bean to play with by hurting them, confusing them, making them get into a huge panic at the airport, putting laxatives in their coffee or making them angry.
