What to Know

Critics Consensus

Director Tim Burton's dark, brooding atmosphere, Michael Keaton's work as the tormented hero, and the flawless casting of Danny DeVito as The Penguin and Christopher Walken as, well, Christopher Walken make the sequel better than the first.

Draco S Apr 18, 2019 Not better than Michael Keaton's first outing from 1989 but defiantly doesn't fail to keep you entertained throughout.
Han W Apr 3, 2019 Possibly the best Batman film in the original series. It's dark tone and interesting character developments brings more energy and life than the first film. It was a shame that this couldn't carry on into the last two and that it was slaughtered for been too violent for children, which I totally disagree. So true to the comics and the character of Batman we all know and love. Really recommend this before watching The Dark Knight Trilogy. See more
Abraham R Mar 29, 2019 I loved this movie a lot. Although there wasn't much of Batman in the start, I loved the penguin and how well developed his character is. See more
Hermione G Mar 15, 2019 I honestly don't see why people like this movie. The plot is incoherent, the characters are ridiculous, and the movie just isn't any fun. See more
Ron G Mar 14, 2019 Tim Burton is given much more free reign Batman Returns and as such I believe he has a unique vision for the caped crusader that sadly didn't go beyond this film. Similar to the 89 film it has more style than substance but again I admire the style. See more
Harry P Mar 13, 2019 My Batman. Michelle Pfeiffer meowing. Danny devito eating fish like an animal. Great job.
