A carefree cow has a heavy responsibility thrust upon him to protect his kind when his Sheriff father is killed by coyotes.

Critics Consensus

Unimaginative and unfunny, this tale of barnyard mischief borders on 'udder' creepiness and adds little to this summer's repertoire of animated films.

The laughs subside near the end as the requisite moral kicks in, but this is still that rare kids' movie I'd recommend to parents and nonparents alike.

This could be the film that snaps everyone's patience with Hollywood animations which have a Dell computer chip where their heart should be.

Barnyard can be best described as the Cow Tools of animated movies. What was supposed to be a simple cartoon starring a cow on a farm became something whose existence alone is so bizarre that it’s more fascinating than funny.

The overall feeling I had leaving Barnyard was one of feeling genuinely creeped out.

This movie is badly animated, acted and the characters are poorly developed. The animation is also pretty poor. But I highly recommend watching this movie. It is hilariously bad and the jokes are genuinely funny at times. Seriously, go watch it. You'll have fun.

I remember watching this film when I was little, I think many people look past the good storyline and do not remember that this was made in 2006. It has it's moments, some funny, some sad ect... But if you show this to any kid you will get a postitive review.

The main cow Otis is male and it has udders. It makes absolutely. I hated this movie when I was young and even more as an adult because of this error.
