What to Know

Critics Consensus

Just like its underserved protagonist, Barely Lethal is in disguise -- it wants you to think it's smarter than it is but it fails by falling prey to all the clichés it mocks.

From the grisly punning title to the low-rent action sequences, this really is less fun than double maths. Go to Full Review

Hardly groundbreaking but this high-school actioner ghosts by on its charm and sense of fun. Go to Full Review

Attempts to subvert some of the standard tropes never really come off and it's light on laughs... Go to Full Review

The great set-up could, and really should, have delivered a better movie than it did, but while it's unlikely to be remembered alongside the films it delights in name-checking, there's enjoyment to be had. Go to Full Review

It is not nearly as intelligent as Mean Girls, but the ass-kicking is still fun to watch. Go to Full Review

Hermione L Jan 23, 2019 worst movie iï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)ve ever seen. it harnesses extremely artificial acting and horrible writing. nobody in the entire galaxy speaks the way people in this movie do. the writing actually felt like every bad line from all shitty high school movies mashed together into one horrendous script. the only good actor in this entire film was thomas mann. he took the painfully awful writing and was able to convey the words well. hailee steinfeld is the worst actress iï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)ve seen in a while. George G Oct 30, 2018 I know this movie isn't great. But it's the perfect movie to watch when you're not a kid or an adult. I watched this movie 2 years ago and today again. There might be some cheesy stuff but overall if you rate the whole movie with the meaning I would say it's an amazing movie. The cast? I don't really have many problems with it I was actually pretty hyped when I first saw the trailer it was like lots of childhood stars in one! If you haven't watch it yet I'll say go watch it if you want comedy action and a little bit of romance in one! ^^ See more
Han M Oct 1, 2018 This was honestly painful to sit through, terrible acting, pointless plodding plot and boring action when it was bothered to be had at all. To think Hailee Steinfeld went from True Grit to this garbage... See more
George S Sep 12, 2018 Hailee Steinfeld and Sophee Turner play their parts, but Jessica Alba only has a very few scenes as does Samuel Jackson. The worst problem this film has it tries to say high school is much harder than being an agent, but it just does not work. . Kids may like this film but adults can stay away - it is not worth the time. See more
