For most, teaching is an honorable profession -- except for Elizabeth (Cameron Diaz). The foul-mouthed, boozy woman can't wait to marry a rich man and quit her job, but she has to rethink her plans when her sugar daddy dumps her. Then Scott Delacorte (Justin Timberlake), a substitute teacher who's cute and rich, arrives. Elizabeth can't wait to sink her teeth into a new meal ticket, but she faces stiff competition from Amy (Lucy Punch), a popular and perky colleague.

Critics Consensus

In spite of a promising concept and a charmingly brazen performance from Cameron Diaz, Bad Teacher is never as funny as it should be.

Just a banal, boring kind of awful.

Much like one of Elizabeth's classes, there are no lessons to be learned, but this mischievous, borderline amoral little number passes the time in a surprisingly amusing fashion.

While a few of Diaz's scenes with Timberlake and his gift for the deadpan seem as if they're going to amount to something, the script's dialogue fails them.

Comedy lovers will appreciate Bad Teacher as one of the early pioneering movies that let women be as imperfect, shiftless and messy as the guys in a Judd Apatow movie.

Any attempt to be like other teacher movies and make memorable students roles to go with the lead teacher takes a backseat to focusing on an evil Cameron Diaz and her rocking bod.

That movie sucks. The main character, Elizabeth, is a stuck-up, very shallow person and I hated that they gaver her a happy ending. The movie was so boring for me that I actually skipped a great protion of it and It's all because Elizabeth pissed me tf off.

It may a few laughs, but overall, Bad Teacher is an extremely cliched, boring, and predictable stack of nothing.

Terrible movie. I love Justin Timberlake but the acting was not there. The humor was non-existent, and completely cringy. The character development was spotty and rushed.

Though it has some good gags and a solid role by Cameron Diaz... the secondary roles cant match the plot. Including the uneven plot bad teacher gives a decently well put to a modern day teacher from Hell.

There isn't much to say about this film other than, "What a shame." There isn't a lick of cinematic value here. The story, acting and reason for existing are nowhere to be found.
