The idea of a werewolf story from the perspective of a family dog confused about whether, and how, to protect his people from a murderous alpha could propel a great horror movie. Perhaps someone will make that someday. Go to Full Review

Eric Red was a credible writer for the 1980s thriller The Hitcher but as a director, he's strictly by-the-numbers. Go to Full Review

[UPDATED 2025 REVIEW] It's impossible to hate any movie in which the hero is a magnificent German Shepherd, but that angle is about all that Bad Moon has going for it. Go to Full Review

"Bad Moon" isn't a great film, but it is a competent one with enough inspiration and individuality to impress. It is easy to see why it has built up an affectionate little following over the last few decades. Go to Full Review

Leia S Oct 28, 2018 A very generic but watchable werewolf film. The plot is the most standard werewolf movie plot you can have, the actors are pretty forgettable and the effects are average. Despite all of that, it never is too boring or bad to watch. Worth a watch for fans of the genre looking to wet their appetite. See more

Rey S Feb 19, 2017 Another highly underrated werewolf movie. Bad Moon is great. It's a very different type of werewolf film film then the other stuff that's come before it but it's a good kind of different. It's a werewolf film mixed with a dog movie but balanced out very well. The script overall is pretty good. The characters are interesting and likable and their whole family drama I found to be good character building as well as the dog Thor was a great character. The werewolf design itself is just excellent probably one of if not the best there is. The practical costume is just fantastic. It's big and violent just like a werewolf should be. The only down side to it is the pretty awful werewolf transformation that looks very artificial and doesn't hold up anymore. The good thing about it is the directors cut of the film which cuts out enough of it so that it doesn't look bad which is a huge plus. If you like or love horror movies or werewolf movies then I recommend this movie. See more
