Leia S Dec 4, 2018 "Attracton" (Priyazhenie) is definitely one of the strangest films I've ever seen. Once I got past watching a trailer in English( and spending money on it) only to find it's in rapid-fire Russian with English subtitles (that required 127 rewinds to find out what was said - and I read fast) and another hundred or so to actually WATCH the action on the screen (instead of reading...still with me?), I discovered an excellent and gawdawful film all rolled into one digitally-enhanced gumball of celluloid. The effects are wonderfully creative, cool, and laughably bad (fantastic spacesuits and water effects - and a flying eyeball spaceship? Where's Jerry Garcia?). The acting is about on the level of a high school play - or maybe 1970's porn - but performed at 150% normal speed, like they didn't have the budget to complete the film in the originally-planned 200 minutes...so they did it in 133 and let the editor take a vodka-fueled nap (see previous notes regarding "rewind"). But there was an outstanding job done by..errr...well, nobody. All the actors are terrible in a goofy, likable sort of way. But what it lacked in acting it made up for in a ridiculous plot. Maybe the somewhat silly acting, over-the-top, everything-but-the-kitchen-sink plot and astounding yet goofy effects are typical of Russian films. If so it's the last one I'll watch. But it's a keeper for "special occasions" - along the lines of Plan 9 From Outer Space - and Balls of Fury. 5+0 = an average of 2.5. Splat. See more

Draco L Dec 16, 2017 Si les acteurs se débrouillent plutôt bien et que le scénario propose une allégorie intéressante, dommage que le film soit taché d'une pseudo-romance à la Twilight, qui n'est pas vraiment crédible d'ailleurs, et autres films du genre. Tout de même un bon effort du cinéma russe. See more
