The simplicity in director Michael Caton-Jones' tale about a man looking to redefine his concept of right and wrong is powerful enough to carry the movie. Go to Full Review

Dreyfuss sinks his teeth into his handful of scenes, while Bisset hits different but equally effective tones in her moments. The underrated Janssen, striking as ever, does her usual stellar work. Go to Full Review

Nothing in the proceedings rings remotely true unless you've been weaned on a steady diet of soulful hit men movies. Go to Full Review

Despite a familiar "ageing assassin" plotline, director Michael Caton-Jones delivers mood and menace, and is well served by Simon Boswell's bluesy score. Go to Full Review

What ends up blurring the final feeling that leaves Asher is its outcome: equivocally open and without the courage necessary to leave grounds. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Leia L Jan 20, 2019 I was so disappointed by Asher. I thought "Famke Janssen hooks up with Ron Perlman the retiring assassin? Phenomenal!" unfortunately, it was not so. Wasted good talent, not on terribleness, just on blandness. See more
Poe G Dec 22, 2018 Perlman (the Tinman) is an old-timer as a hitman - but happens upon Jenssen (as he passes out in her apartment doorway while trying to pull off a hit). Their meeting is life altering for Asher as he attempts to make things right and keep her around See more
Albus S Dec 18, 2018 When you think of hitmen, heartless, cold blooded killers come to mind. Ron Perlman, as the title character in Asher, shows that there are two sides to every man. Ron says more with a sideways glance than many actors are able to say with two pages of dialogue. There is a slow, steady pace to this script, which perfectly matches the arc of this character, trying to see if there might actually be life for him, after a lifetime of taking them! While not actually looking, he finds love... and then struggles with himself and his past to hold on to something heâ(TM)s not entirely sure he deserves. The cinematography is beautiful, each shot telling part of the story before a word is spoken. If you LOVE character driven stories, youâ(TM)ll LOVE Asher! See more
Abraham P Dec 17, 2018 Thought-provoking film!
Anakin W Dec 14, 2018 5 Star film! i highly recommend Asher! It is film-noir at its best.. Cast is wonderful, cinematography lovely, Ron Perlman"s performance is brilliantly understated,.. a perfect fit for the character! It left me wanting more! See more
Hermione S Dec 13, 2018 Asher (Ron Perlman) is a seasoned, very skilled contract killer who has resigned himself to a life of detachment & routine. He encounters a very lovely Sophie (Famke Janssen) on a job gone awry & finds himself questioning his self-inflicted solitude. This proves to be a very dangerous dilemma. Asher is a great film starring Richard Dreyfuss, Jacqueline Bisset, Peter Facinelli as well as Famke Janssen & the great Ron Perlman. Shot on location in New York, the cinematography is both gorgeous & gritty. The music is compelling, & the action sequences are exciting. My favorite scenes, though, are the ones featuring Asher on his own. Perlman plays this character with such a quiet power. He says so much without uttering a word. See more
