This lyrical and ethereal film mixes the stark style of a crime story into a love story, capturing the highs, lows and the deepest, darkest recesses of grungy, stoned teenage life Go to Full Review

Hermione S Nov 6, 2018 Some of the scenes go on a tad long. Teens will like it. The angst, the terrifying confusion, boredom... all add up to a watchable film. See more
Hermione W Feb 20, 2018 This is one of the most moving and beautiful films I have seen as of late. I thoroughly believe this film is underrated and under-watched by the mass public. The plot is extremely subtle, and while some may find this aspect of the film boring or slow, I found it to be very realistic. While watching "As You Are" I had no trouble believing or understanding the characters, and felt like I was watching real teenagers on screen. The cuts to the future interviews pose intrigue and really keeps the audience on the edge of the seat. The ending, while a bit confusing, was really emotional, and even through the ambiguity of what really happened, I felt the entire film really came down in a really stark way. I did lay on my couch just thinking about this movie after I finished it and wanted to share it with everyone. The cinematography was also beautiful, and the cool tones really seemed to fit. The world the film was set in was also amazing in the way that it was set in the 90s, but didn't tell the audience over and over again that it was the 90s. The viewer could simply tell. The actors also all did wonderful jobs, and overall, this was a fantastic film. I would recommend to almost anyone See more
Harry L Oct 9, 2017 Definitely some strong and interesting filmmaking at work here, in terms of the script, cinematography, performances and editing. There's also some terrible overly-dramatized moments that had me frustrated. So it's a bit of a mixed bag. But I appreciate the intentions to do something different with this movie. See more
