Kusturica grafts his sometimes unwieldy Europe-inflected concerns onto brash American landscapes with mixed results. Much is made of dreams that, either spoken of at length or illustrated, are offered in lieu of character development. Go to Full Review

The first 'American' film by the director of Time of the Gypsies is every bit as bizarre and imaginative as his earlier work, although it's also maddeningly indulgent and erratic. Go to Full Review

Even at its full length, showing off a more seductive rhythm and the buoyant humanism that is this director's calling card, it remains as ripe a subject for therapy as for criticism. Go to Full Review

Lewis is only slightly awful, and he and Depp have a nice rapport; Dunaway gives a particularly juicy performance; and Taylor is simply amazing, seemingly able to transform herself physically for every role she plays. Go to Full Review

Draco S Feb 17, 2019 First watched this in my late teens and didnï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)t get into it. Now in my mid forties and with a lot more life experiences Iï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)ve come to really appreciate it. This film is quirky craftsmanship that really highlights lifeï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)s absurdities. The older you get the more resigned to lifeï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)s dreamlike non sensical events. The confluence of experience and imagery trying to make sense of a complex world. In the end you just shrug your shoulders and go with it, much like Iï¿ 1/2 1/2(TM)d suggest with watching this film. Love every aspect of it, the actors, the acting, the non plot, the characters, the absurdities, the human emotions, the imagery and of course the music. I loved watching Lili Taylor again and remembered when she was in a lot of movies back in the 80s and 90s. And Johnny Depp in his best looking years before his current day man child weirdness and slurred speech hobonism. Great acting from Vincent, Faye and Jerry- who would have thought such a combination would work? Love this more now then I ever did in the 90s. See more
Albus S Apr 27, 2018 Vincent Gallo steals the show. Great movie.
Han L Nov 8, 2017 Arizona Dream's overwhelming artsyness and unique style stands real close to being obnoxious...but my goodness, it's just so darn charming. I can confidently say I've never seen a movie quite like this. Gallo's weirdly hilarious obsession with North by Northwest, the meta-commentary on Depp himself, the questions about where the film's reality actually exists. It's surreal, crazy, and bursting with Lychian-lite life, whose oddities work so well by erring on the side of hilarity instead of pretension. See more
