Antiviral is a none-too-subtle comment on tabloid-generated fandom. But it's undeniably intriguing and loaded with Cronenbergian atmosphere. Go to Full Review

How sick can fans of a celebrity get? Very, answers "Antiviral." Imagine fan fetish culture metastasizing. A pox on consumers and capitalists alike, Brandon Cronenberg sneers. Go to Full Review

Cronenberg’s indictment of celebrity worship might be delivered with all the grace and stealth of a chainsaw cutting through tin cans, but it’s difficult not to agree that as a culture we’re doubtless heading somewhere similarly dire and disgusting. Go to Full Review

Cronenberg doesn't know what to do with the material about celebrity culture and pharmaceutical conspiracies, leaving everything on a sanitized, leaden surface that slowly drains away like blood drained from an injection. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

[Brandon Croneberg's] approach is appropriately intimate and sensuous, physical yet disconnected, and his mix of visual restraint, visual elegance, and conceptual complexity make him someone to watch for. Go to Full Review

Hermione R Feb 24, 2019 A sad testimony & a really sick movie (sic). American society has spiraled downward, everyone is visceral/shallow, pursuing epicurean lifestyles totally alive only for desires to be like 'celebrities', even if it is self-destructive or deadly. The pseudo intellectuals promote the often deadly lifestyle with multi-syllable words to brainwash the easily influenced proletariat. The elitist billionaires controlling everything propagate this lifestyle to control the masses. This is the same thing that the dimocrats/communists/socialist/progressives are causing to happen in our society today. History: the communists/socialist knew that America was too strong to defeat from without. They said they had to destroy America from within by having America's youth pursue drugs & sex, and destruction of the American family unit. This flick has ZERO redeeming quality. Most in the movie are deranged individuals pursuing their own deviant self destructive lifestyle. Nothing but selfish, self-serving lifestyles to satisfy the perverse desire to acclaim identity with so called 'celebrates'. Those that find pleasure in this movie you are mentally ill, emotionally disturbed/perverse, or Spiritually lost. It is no wonder our younger generation is so prone to violence, perverse sexual desires, with no sense of love for our fellow man. I was left empty after watching this. Save an hour and a half of your life that you will not get back and don't watch this movie. See more
Luke P Dec 7, 2018 My favorite movie of all time, and I've seen a lot of movies. Antiviral is a social commentary film on how we as a society get obsessed with celebrities, going so far as to even change ourselves to be like them. However, in this movie they go much farther than we do, at least farther than we have yet. We get plastic surgery to look like our favorite celebrities, we mimic what they do, it's only logical that some day we'll be injecting ourselves with their own blood and diseases. This shows a dystopian society, however it's not far off from the truth. We become so obsessed sometimes that we even hurt ourselves. Antiviral is a great movie, and Caleb Landry Jones did absolutely amazing in it. I would definitely recommend it, and I have! See more
Luke G Aug 29, 2017 Unfortunately, it's antiviral in the sense that this movie will never catch on. Added an extra half-star for smallish Malcolm McDowell part. Lots of coughing and hacking and a little bleeding. Not much else from David Cronenberg's son's first feature. See more
George S Mar 19, 2017 Caleb will have a golden globe in the future once they start giving him parts worthy of one . Movie just stretched on for too long tho See more
