Ever since her parents left her as a baby, little Annie has led a hard-knock life with her calculating foster mother, Miss Hannigan. However, all that changes when hard-nosed billionaire and mayoral candidate Will Stacks takes her in on the recommendation of his advisers. Stacks believes that he's Annie's guardian angel, but the plucky youngster's confidence and sunny outlook may mean that Annie will save Will instead.

Critics Consensus

The new-look Annie hints at a progressive take on a well-worn story, but smothers its likable cast under clichés, cloying cuteness, and a distasteful materialism.

You may grimace at some points, but kids might like it anyway.

There's nothing wrong with reworking the score of Annie -- as this film does -- but too often, the movie seems a little embarrassed to be a musical at all, making it seem as if it's having a crisis of confidence.

This film’s biggest mistake is that it brings Annie into the 21st century, only to discover that in this century she doesn’t actually have anything relevant to say.

A fun kids movie that really doesn't deserve as much negative press as it gets. It's perfect and fun for its age demographic, with upbeat songs that fit in with its modern feel. The acting is great as is the cinematography. It will obviously never be a classic like the 1982 version but as a standalone adaptation it's fun and enjoyable; a great family friendly movie!

Was ready to hate on it but was pleasantly surprised. Great casting, Cameron Diaz killed it. Feel good movie

Just not good, just a crappy knockoff of the 1982 version.

it wasn't to bad, but it got a little off track from the original. But as a Annie fan i thought it was decent. I would recommend this movie to Annie fans though.

A lovely movie that cares more about the characters than even the singing. Not for everyone, but still a great film
