What to Know

Critics Consensus

Filled with inspired silliness and quotable lines, Anchorman isn't the most consistent comedy in the world, but Will Ferrell's buffoonish central performance helps keep this portrait of a clueless newsman from going off the rails.

Takes a joke and runs with it -- sometimes too far, but usually long enough to wear you down and force you to submit to its craziness. Go to Full Review

Certainly the silliest comedy of the year, but mainly in a good way. Go to Full Review

This is the sort of film where the concepts of sustained shouting and milking a joke past its expiration date are both frequently passed off as cutting-edge comedy, but much of the material is indeed very funny. Go to Full Review

“Anchorman” has a number of great scenes and I found myself laughing out loud numerous times. Unfortunately I found myself rolling my eyes just as much. Go to Full Review

Draco M Feb 14, 2019 A perfect comedy. Filled with memorable characters, memorable quotes. This movie had me nonstop laughing. I was at times crying at how much I was laughing. Will Ferrell is Ron Burgundy, a fantastic performance. The writing is great See more
George G Jan 20, 2019 Don't waste your time with this awful, cringe-worthy movie. Don't let the likes of Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell ad will Ferrel trick you. DONT WATCH THIS See more
Jan 5, 2019 Upon its release, it didn't get rave reviews, but like Animal House its splendor was not going to be hidden by critics in ivory towers. This movie is rife with childish machismo and hilarious one-liners that never stop landing and has carved itself a nice little niche for its place in comedy history. See more
Draco S Dec 30, 2018 Terrible film but it does have some fantastic bits in it.
Anakin R Nov 19, 2018 While occasionally ridiculous, it is always funny.
Theodore R Nov 7, 2018 This film was solid.
