Soon after the Montelli family buys a house in the Long Island suburb of Amityville, unsettling events begin to occur. Mysterious demons seem to infest the house, preying on abusive father Anthony (Burt Young) and ferociously religious mother Dolores (Rutanya Alda), who calls on family priest Father Adamsky (James Olson) for an exorcism. Teenage Sonny (Jack Magner) is drawn furthest into madness, abusing his younger sister, Patricia (Diane Franklin), and eventually exploding in a horrific fury.

The sequel makes grotesque, heartless use of an authentic tragedy which predated the alleged haunting spree exploited in The Amityville Horror. Go to Full Review

A depressing imitation of The Exorcist. Go to Full Review

This movie is actually slightly better than The Amityville Horror, maybe because it rips off superior source material. Go to Full Review

…locates the doomed family’s issues firmly within male intransigence..here’s real edge and conviction rather than cheese and gore, it's surprisingly well performed and it’s literally the only movie in the Amityville franchise that works… Go to Full Review

Campier than its much tamer predecessor, Amityville 2 is a slasher crossed with an Exorcist film. Featuring a queer-coded priest, incest and solid practical effects, this sequel is a wild ride. Go to Full Review

A superbly crafted, handsomely produced, superior haunted house tale that on more than one occasion will send shivers up your spine. Go to Full Review

Abraham S Oct 30, 2018 I love a sequel that not only ups the ante regarding the original film but decides to be as extreme as possible and really 'go for it'.  In this film theres a new family who move into Amityville. You know that any family that includes Burt Young and Rutanya Alda as members is going to be dysfunctional. And, by Christ, I mean VERY dysfunctional. Any film that deals with incest is going to be special. Theres also a domestic violence subplot which is just as shocking. Add to that some of the grossest special effects as the teenage son is possessed and transformed into an utter beast of a nightmarish character and you have a great, twisted and truly messed up (in a good way) sequel. I remember this having one of the most disturbing sleeves of any horror video in my local video stores which instantly made me want to investigate this further. There is also a scene involving a Sony Walkman which freaked me out so much that it made me question using mine for days after seeing this filth classic.  Don't miss this messed up gem of a movie. Draco R Oct 4, 2018 1.5/5. Amityville 2 has some solid gore and a couple of good sequences, but the story is boring and the characters suck.
Hermione W Sep 12, 2018 While riddled with forgivable flaws, this follow-up to the 1979 original film features enough frights and practical effects to conjure up an effective little possession story. Able to stand on it's own, this sequel remains engaging throughout and doesn't fall victim to the dullness of the first film. See more
Han L Mar 14, 2018 Vastly underrated, scary and easily the best of The Amityville movies.
Ron S Feb 15, 2018 Compared to the first movie, this one comes across weaker in story and rather in dull. Overall it's a forgettable sequel.
Ron W Nov 2, 2017 Scared the crap outta me when I was younger. It's been 20 years since and I still won't go near it. Good stuff.
