Despite a few strong emotional beats, the crime drama "American Heist" proves as undistinguished as its generic title. Go to Full Review

American Heist has straight-to-video written all over it. Once there, I recommend you skip directly to the last act if you decide to watch it at all. Go to Full Review

The movie suffers from underdeveloped characters, a lack of originality and an unnecessary social commentary. Half good, half bad. Go to Full Review

Hayden Christensen and Adrien Brody turn in solid performances, but this by-the-numbers exercise does little to distinguish itself from any number of better crime thrillers. Go to Full Review

Ron S Nov 15, 2018 American Heist, proves to be a worthy crime film. With potential to make it great.
Leia P Aug 11, 2018 In terms of the direct-to-video genre, it's rather well-made but also lacks originality. The leading performances from Brody and Christensen are earnest however the reliable duo can't elevate a movie like this to a great extent. Certainly watchable however it most likely won't stick with you. See more
George P Jul 18, 2018 Other than a few good moments, this was a drawn-out and nothing new heist flick.
Poe S Jun 16, 2018 Strengths: The concept behind the movie is strong. Having a bond between brothers as the heart of a story is almost always a good idea, especially when it's as complicated as this. Jordana Brewster (Emily) was solid. That's about all I can say positive about this. Weaknesses: Hayden Christensen (James Kelly) gives one of his usual performances completely devoid of emotion. It's so bad. However, Adrien Brody (Frankie Kelly) is even worse. He goes way over the top with his acting to the point where it's unintentionally comical. It's a shame because he's usually very good. While Brewster was good in the movie, she had no chemistry with Christensen. The first half of the film feels like a big waste of time and the ending come across like nothing is really accomplished. Overall: It's a short review because the movie is so bad. This is one of the worst movies I've seen in the past few years. Complete trash. Bad writing, no real plot, and terrible acting almost across the board. See more
May 26, 2018 Can I give this 0 stars? I love Adrien Brody and Hayden Christensen but wtf were they doing in this movie? The first hour was a complete waste of time, melodramatic soap opera crap. Then they had a terrible story line with the bank heist and what in the world was with the ending? I'm all for open ended conclusions but it's like they lost the last scenes and the people on the cutting floor just said "meh, good enough." Don't waste your time on this, seriously. See more
Apr 28, 2018 Brody's performance was phenomenal in this movie. The storyline was common but there were things about this movie that made it special. I thought that there seemed to be real chemistry between Brody and Christensen which isn't easy for 2 actors playing brothers and the intensity of their relationship...it seemed genuine and not forced. Even though Brody was playing the older brother and Christensen the younger they played the opposite roles in maturity levels AMAZINGLY!!! The best part was the ending which I won't give away as I confidant to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet. This movie made me tear up more than once and that's not an easy thing to accomplish. I probably am a star higher than most and an admitting it because I think Brody and Christensen are nice to look at. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! It See more
