"Amélie" is a fanciful comedy about a young woman who discretely orchestrates the lives of the people around her, creating a world exclusively of her own making. Shot in over 80 Parisian locations, acclaimed director Jean-Pierre Jeunet ("Delicatessen"; "The City of Lost Children") invokes his incomparable visionary style to capture the exquisite charm and mystery of modern-day Paris through the eyes of a beautiful ingénue.

A deeply lovely movie about the importance, and the rewards, of kindness. Go to Full Review

Re-released and remastered for its 25th anniversary, Amélie has aged well enough. Time has not wearied the stylised, magical and unrecognisably white Paris she inhabits. Go to Full Review

Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s quirky rom-com AMÉLIE felt like a breath of fresh air when it was released two decades ago. It's just as relevant today, but for different reasons. Go to Full Review

The story is sweet, subtle and never pretentious, with genuine moments of overwhelming joy and painful loneliness. Go to Full Review

Snapshot of an idealized version of [Montmartre]... fate, joy, momentary despair and still more joy. It’s filled with lists of likes and dislikes and Jeunet’s restless need to entertain makes Amélie a list in itself. Go to Full Review

Theodore R Apr 15, 2019 A movie where the empathy is truly real. I shouldn't have to tell you, based on the high amount of critic reviews, that this is an excellent movie. In a world that is pushed by technology and action-packed scenes, and CGI effects, Amà (C)lie gets back to the roots of what makes a truly spectacular movie. Amà (C)lie shows that you don't need a huge Hollywood budget to leap into the hearts of the audience who are watching the film. She does all of these daring and exuberant task that make you, as the viewer, want to come out of your shell and explore too. See more
Finn P Apr 13, 2019 Most magical, feel good movie. The cinematography is incredible and the overall artistry is breathtaking.
Theodore M Apr 12, 2019 Hands down, one of the best movies I've ever seen. Even if it is in French.
Hermione L Apr 10, 2019 So, you don't like foreign language films? You say that you don't like reading subtitles? Let Amelie prove you wrong! This film transcends language; it's one of the most beautiful, not to mention entertaining films that I've ever seen. A comedy, romance and drama all rolled into one, Amelie is a film about a young girl who lives in her own world, a world filled with wonder and discovery around every corner. Follow Amelie on her adventure from her childhood to her job at the cafe and beyond, meeting crazy characters along the way. My only warning would be that this is NOT a movie for kids. It's rated R and there are some graphic moments, so please don't make this your Saturday night family movie! See more
Ron R Mar 27, 2019 I am so warm and fuzzy; and I'm not sure if it's my rum-tinged peppermint hot chocolate or just the pure, unencumbered happiness of this movie. See more
Rey W Mar 8, 2019 This is about as perfect of a film as you can get.
