In this film of unconnected humor sketches, bad movies and late-night television are parodied extensively. A doctor (Griffin Dunne) has to help Brenda (Michelle Pfeiffer) give birth, with unexpected results. In "Son of the Invisible Man," Griffin (Ed Begley Jr.) is actually more naked than invisible. Among the many other segments, there is a spoof of alarmist 1950s hygiene instructional films featuring a woman (Carrie Fisher) being harshly advised about her new sexually transmitted disease.

Amazon Women on the Moon is irreverent, vulgar and silly and has some hilarious moments and some real groaners too. Go to Full Review

An anarchic, often hilarious adventure in dial-spinning, a collection of brief skits and wacko parodies that are sometimes quite clever, though they're just as often happily sophomoric, too. Go to Full Review

Amazon Women on the Moon duplicates the experience of watching late-night TV in the 1980s... Go to Full Review

There appears to be a running, eerily prophetic theme in Amazon, as most of the skits deal with how advancements in technology - particularly television and home video - often sabotage our lives. Go to Full Review

Hit-and-miss. The best skit features Ed Begley Jr. as the son of the Invisible Man. Go to Full Review

Theodore R Dec 30, 2017 One of the first movies I ever reviewed on my podcast, when it was still called I Hate Critics, now Everyone's a Critic, was a disconcerting sketch comedy movie called Movie 43. The film was a series of appalling short films strung together with no narrative under a title that one could imagine it having been randomly assigned by a movie studio for storage purposes, not intended for theatrical release. That this series of short films starred such actors as Hugh Jackman, Kate Winslet, Richard Gere, Liev Schreiber, and Naomi Watts are the only reason Movie 43 ever saw the light of day. When I saw Movie 43 I had never even heard of the obscure 1987 comedy Amazon Women on the Moon. I take that back, I did hear of it but I assumed it was some sort of softcore pornographic comedy. I think I may have also confused it with the movie Cannibal Women in the Amazon Jungle of Death, an epically unfunny spoof movie starring Bill Maher, before Politically Incorrect, oddly enough, and Shannon Tweed. https://geeks.media/30-years-of-amazon-women-on-the-moon?_ga=2.264744015.1126457623.1513947710-953607229.1513947710 See more
Draco R Apr 12, 2017 Some sketches are good, others are terrible. My favorite was the Siskel and Ebert rating a guys life.
Rey R Feb 26, 2017 A multi-director comedy anthology film that really has no overarching structure to it. When it's firing on all cylinders, it's really funny. Like most of these films, it's very uneven, and the unfunny stuff is pretty dire. With few exceptions, the Joe Dante and Carl Gottlieb material is superb, but not the rest. John Landis's segments (except for the ones featuring Don "No Soul" Simmons) demonstrate just how far he slid after the early 80's. See more
