The story's just chaff; the movie's worth seeing for its performances if you're a fan of those involved. Otherwise, it's forgettable, just like the last hours of being up all night. Go to Full Review

Despite J.K. Simmons' gruff charm and inarguable charisma, the movie is so slight it vanishes without a trace faster than the dislocated Ginnie. Go to Full Review
Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle Mar 23, 2017

It's Netflix and chill fodder for sure, but even with its relatively short running time and Simmons' rampant charisma, All Nighter feels way too much like its own title, a soporific exercise in style over substance. Go to Full Review

It's slickly directed by Gavin Wiesen, and Seth Owen's script has a relaxed, freewheeling trajectory. Go to Full Review

There's a formula behind All Nighter that isn't all too original but the life that J.K. Simmons and Emile Hirsch bring to the formula make up for the lack of originality on display. Go to Full Review

It's not even a bad movie, it's something worse: forgettable. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Luke S Feb 23, 2019 Wiesen takes 6 years for his third film, moving from "The Art of Getting By", one of the best coming-of-age movies ever seen on the screen, to this unbroken succession of losers without qualities who anyway will eventually find all their redemptive balance, it is not clear how or why. And the banjo and Bob Seger are certainly not better than the Pavement's low-fi. There are those who have compared it to "After Hours" (1985). No blasphemies, thanks. (Mauro Lanari) See more
Han R Oct 28, 2018 It was pretty amusing to see J.K. Simmons in this role. He was funny although the movie wasn't. All Nighter isn't good but not necessarily a waste of time. See more
Hagrid W May 12, 2018 Mildly amusing because of J.K. Simons.
Finn L Apr 21, 2018 A great "find-person" movie with a few good life lessons from the seemingly-wise-in-real-life JK Simmons, and a great performance by his co-star as well. See more
Dec 31, 2017 So it's predictable, so it's low budget, this film was fun. Cold outside, curl up on the couch and watch some great performances. JK Simmons, who plays the same JK Simmons character we have seen a million times but still can't get enough of. Emile Hirsch is great in this, winsome, and subtle. It is a heartwarming film with a happy ending you see coming a mile away. I really enjoyed it. See more
Theodore S Oct 17, 2017 "All Nighter's" probably better than its tomatoes here, but the loser characters & scenarios really wear thin in the first 50-mins. Finally, the show picks-up the pace in the final Act nearly saving a disaster. J. K. is good but this film really is beneath him now. Talk about a working character actor! | - Norm de Guerre See more
