The year is 1613, and Shakespeare is acknowledged as the greatest writer of the age. But disaster strikes when his renowned Globe Theatre burns to the ground. Devastated, Shakespeare returns to Stratford, where he must face a troubled past and a neglected family. Haunted by the death of his only son, Hamnet, he struggles to mend the broken relationship with his wife and daughters. In so doing, he is ruthlessly forced to examine his own failings as a husband and father.

Impressively cast and beautifully filmed, All Is True takes an elegiac look at Shakespeare's final days.

Though much of the film is mere speculation on what the last years of Shakespeare's life may have been like, it is in those extraordinary high points in the film that "All Is True" really does ring true. Go to Full Review

Albus G Feb 20, 2019 It's a very pretty movie- great interiors and available light. But while I can handle it playing fast and loose with the (very few) facts we have abiout Shakespeare, it's very lightweight, clunkily scripted and appallingly sentiment. See more
Albus G Feb 10, 2019 Loved it. A simple but naunced film. Evenly paced but moving, nods to Shakespeare's work are well woven into the narrative but not overplayed. Branagh is good but Judi Dench steals the show every times she opens her mouth. See more
Ron W Feb 9, 2019 True or not, the film was so boring we walked out the cinema half way through!
Poe W Feb 9, 2019 A little jewel of a film. I nearly nodded off in the first 20 minutes, but then it got me. Lovely performances especially Dench and Wilder. McKellen and Ken do a great set piece in the middle. Overall I believed it, so All is True. See more
Leia S Feb 8, 2019 Great performances, Judi Dench especially. But very slow and the plot's a bit scattershot. Interesting script but didn't really engage me. See more
