What to Know

Critics Consensus

While Sigourney Weaver's feral performance as a resurrected Ripley restores some fun to the Alien franchise, the acid blood running through this fourth entry's veins corrodes whatever emotional investment audiences had left.

It lacks the frequent surprises of Alien, but it is just as visceral, and ultimately, more disturbing. Go to Full Review

The plot lines are way too familiar and the ending is merely an invitation for Alien 5. Go to Full Review

Alien Resurrection checks in with enough slime, gore and scary monster-flick moments to satisfy undemanding audiences. But it's an ugly, animated corpse of a movie stitched together from the other three films in the series. Go to Full Review

The movie isn't especially exciting (or coherent) and, in all honest, it's a bit of an eye-sore. Go to Full Review

You've got to give Alien Resurrection some credit: it takes some big swings. Go to Full Review

Too weird, wet and horny to be widely accepted, Alien Resurrection nevertheless captures Jeunet's unique stuff, Whedon's trademark quips, and brings its own flavour to the Alien franchise Go to Full Review

Apr 28, 2019 OMFG, this is pure entertainment from beginning to end. Yes, it has it's flaws (the franchise always has), but would I ever watch it again or was I entertained? Fucking fuck yes, I just got done re-watching it, and realized that, while I used to take issue with some of these myself, most of its supposed "flaws" are actually the fault of the audience. Drop your creepy mentally challen ... modern culture of constantly trying to complain about literally everything and sit back and enjoy; ... the director's cut. PS if this of all films confuses you ... I don't know WTF is wrong with you but I've got very bad news about your comprehension skill. See more
Ron G Mar 28, 2019 A horny Riply, under water xenomorphs and chucky getting his head bit off. All this can be shit or amazing. Its shit, the only thing that is good about it is the Winona Ryder is in it, At least the studio didn't interfere with this one so much. See more
Hagrid P Mar 17, 2019 I actually enjoyed Alien Resurrection, but I didn't like the look of the alien hybrid baby at the end.
Abraham S Mar 6, 2019 Not the best...that thing at the end...wtf?
Harry S Jan 23, 2019 Some nice action set pieces but so, so many issues. The stupid genetic creation of Ripley turning her into half Catwoman/half Terminator is just as bad as it sounds and results in some genuinely cringe moments. Ryder is completely miscast in this film and role, and feels like she wandered onto the wrong set. The rag-tag gang of crew just feel like caricatures of many of the characters in the first 3 films as do many of the scenes which just feel like the same thing, but done worse. On it's own it would be an OK action movie, as part of the Alien catalogue though, it's a bit of a stinker. To be fair, many of the creature effects are top notch, except for whatever that stupid baby Alien thing is supposed to be at the end with it's little sad face...ha ha ha! Give me strength! See more
Harry R Nov 18, 2018 Is it a patch on Alien or Aliens? Hell no. But this isn't really a bad film at all, albeit a bit into B movie territory by the look of it. Sigourney Weaver returns to play the iconic character that put her face on the map- Ellen Ripley and so have the Xenomorphs, although now they can do many things previously deemed impossible (including communicating with Ripley). If you are a fan of the Alien franchise you should watch this, if you lie science fiction films go see it. See more
