What to Know

Critics Consensus

Alien: Covenant delivers another satisfying round of close-quarters deep-space terror, even if it doesn't take the saga in any new directions.

Even if the twists and turns in the plot aren't too hard to see coming, there's a distinct joy that [Ridley] Scott takes in setting up and setting off each of those traps. Go to Full Review

Covenant works best when it's honoring Alien and massively fails when it hearkens back to Prometheus. Go to Full Review

There's an air of mystery to Alien: Covenant that the movie can't live up to, because for all its interest in what it all means, it has relatively little to show for all that idle questioning. Go to Full Review

It has it's issues, but Ridley's big ideas mixed with some risky creative choices end up building a couple of really interesting moments in what could have been an otherwise worthless endeavor. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Alien: Covenant aims for two birds with one stone and grazes both; perhaps actually striking one might have been better. Go to Full Review

[The] story falls flat as [Alien: Covenant] cares more about exploring the familiar been-there, done-that territory rather than continuing to embrace the philosophical storytelling approach seen in Prometheus. Go to Full Review

George P Apr 19, 2019 Alien Covenant is an interesting instalment for the franchise. It's innovative but not too much. The alien could be better. The characters are terrible but Ellen Ripley is hard to live up to still. David is the best part of the film ( an Android) this film is disappointing at best but still worth watching if already a fan of alien otherwise first comers tot he series are best to watch the first two films! 6/10! Anakin L Apr 19, 2019 They could have done so much more. Prometheus really set up the stage for this to have been a wonderful universe and story.. instead the dumbest parts of previous movies were increased. This movie had so much potential. See more
Apr 17, 2019 The dumbest, I mean dumbest group of explorers ever. First sign of alien, one runs and slips on the blood and you grab a knife and MISS ?!?! The super scared one runs in to help with a shot gun and SLIPS ON THE SAME BLOOD!!! Now she scurrys out and foot gets HIT by a closing door?!?! The cast/crew is so bland it was hard to watch. David is still the most interesting character in all of this. Its a shame, Prometheus was great to watch, but this one..... See more
Han P Apr 17, 2019 Why cant they make a good oldschool Alien Movie like the first or second one?
Theodore R Apr 17, 2019 I like the movie's direction where David want to portray himself as a Creator. Thus, created a perfect creature being. I fatigue of seeing plots in other movies where the monster start killing and the main character hunt them down and save the world. First half was predictable by the character silly decisions. But still create some scary moment and tension especially in the med bay. The story direction in the second half sudden changed to be a follow up with the previous movie â~Prometheus'. And it felt rush and not well executed. The theme of the â~Prometheus' set up something interesting, but it failed to continue it. Overall is a fine movie, an okay alien's film, a poor â~Prometheus' follow up. But still, I would like to see more for David's future fate. (side note â" I like the new alien species, Neomorph) See more
Theodore P Apr 14, 2019 This has almost anything you could ever want in any Alien movie. It has suspense, it has multiple plot twists, it has remarkable acting, especially the performance given by Michael Fassbender. And of course, gritty visuals, facehuggers, xenomorphs, and the new neomorphs. The ending will blow your mind. See more
